Here's mine:

Playstation - Through January 2023

I'm planning to temporarily cancel my sub due to the price hike, in order to downgrade from Premium to Extra at the next discount. With that in mind, I've set some goals for games on the subscription to hopefully clear before it expires. 

1. Lost Judgement
2. Assassin's Creed Rogue
3. NieR Replicant
4. Neo The World Ends With You
5. Kena Bridge of Spirits
6. Infamous Second Son
7. Yakuza Like a Dragon

(If God of War Ragnarok is added at its anniversary, it becomes top priority).

Playstation and Switch 2024

After my sub lapses, I'll be focusing on clearing some of the great games I own, including but not limited to:

1. Clearing another path of my multi-route games (Triangle Strategy, NieR Automata, Ys Origin, Trials of Mana Remake)
2. Spiderman Miles Morales
3. Mass Effect Legendary Edition
4. The Witcher 3's PS5 upgrade
5. The Banner Saga Trilogy
6. Samurai Warriors 5, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, and/or Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition

The upcoming lineup starting in November is looking so brutally good that I've basically got almost a year lined up.

I have games I go back to at times but like now I am playing Starfield and started New World. Not sure I consider an mmo in a backlog.

Does anyone consider mmos in their backlog?
I never really thought about it. 
Now that I do, New World was in my backlog I guess.
Now I am playing it so it is no longer in it.

Ugh.

Too long.

Some of them are games that I feel require several hours to have a satisfying "gaming session" and I don't really carve out the time, some are kind of scary and I need to steel myself to play them.

I tend to buy in 100% when I play a scary game.

Some of them haven't really grabbed me all that much and I'd like to give them another chance. However, there are games that grab me more and I just continually play them.

I tend to pick shorter games, or games with high replayability, like roguelikes, so I can actually finished them.

Between, work, grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning, gym, cardio and all my other adult responsibilities my ability to play games has shrunk and mostly limited to weekends.

So if I ever want to see the end of a game they have to be relatively short.
I do miss like when I was a kid and could rent a game from Blockbuster and actually beat it in a weekend.

Before Starfield there was 7D2D, several weeks after Starfield released, there's still only 7D2D.

Game Day 371 on our first and only A-21 server, only game my 2 friends and I have played since mid May... seriously.

Well, I'd hardly call it Attention Deficit Gaming Disorder if I'm actually finishing almost everything I play now.

My gaming experience now is way richer than it ever was when I was beholden to dailies and MMO tasks all the time. Variety is the spice of life.

Few games truly manage to give you that feeling, but I would rate Lotro higher than WoW and Skyrim higher than Deus Ex in that regard. An open world is a must have, but even though I looked at solo, being multiplayer is too. We each have are must haves, for now VR is not one of mine for the ultimate living in a world experience, but maybe one day it will be.

He's referring to obligation. If you are say... playing Warframe hardcore, you're grinding, keeping up with dailies, keeping an eye on high priority alert missions to log in for so you aren't missing out, etc. If you're playing something like Black Desert, it's way worse with afk jobs and stuff. There's a lot of busy work when it comes to MMOs.

Got you now, yeah you can take any game too far, hardcore just used to mean you had trained and were good at the game, when it means you have to allocate a minimum of an hour every day to a game that's just pants.

I do have a lot more time for PvP and raiding mind you, but grinding keys and so on is not what end game should be about.

I don't mind "another settlement needs your help" etc as long as it is kept in proportion, when you start to feel you are treading water in a game because you are helping "another settlement" that starts to destroy a gamers soul.

I actually like bandit camps. As far as filler content goes, they're actually fun. The actual junk content in Ubisoft games is all the pointless collectibles.

I don't even mind the collectables, but I am not fanatic about them, the only thing I ignore is Steam Achievements which seem to be so often about things I have no interest in achieving.

I dont have any backlog. Being a fan of roleplaying games, the amount of games that interest me is rather manageable.

I find the whole concept of archievements rather stupid. Even more so if they get displayed publically.

I mean I guess if you were only a fan of western RPG games, that might be true. As a fan of both western RPGs and JRPGs like I am, the amount is certainly not rather manageable. Especially because my favorite subgenres are experiencing boom periods.

As for achievements, I'm absolutely not a trophy hunter, but I did get my first ever platinum trophies this year. They were all completion-based games (Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, Spiderman, Ghost of Tsushima, 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim, and Immortals Fenyx Rising). I'd never go for a difficulty-based platinum.

I always get an award for completing the game, what shocks me is how rare that is for games that were 80+ on Metacritic, even 90+ can be 10% of players.

Only thing on my radar that I'm waiting for is Space Marine 2. I'm currently playing through Cyberpunk again for the new expansion that came out. Finished Starfield but might go back for another round in Game+ and maybe make some different choices. From my ending "gallery" I think I missed some significant stories because there was a lot of blank space. However I didn't regret any of the choices I made. Without spoiling anything I still chuckle about how in disbelief the pirates were that I had betrayed them. You're pirates that stab each other in the back all the time for money and you're shocked? Literally the first face to face interaction with them has one pirate murder another pirate in an argument over money. Then when it turns out I'm a mole planted to take them down the leader is all beside himself in disbelief? Really? The whole lot of them are a bunch of morons.

Sure, that is a long time. But like, most gamers never tackle their backlog. Only build. I'm happy with my progress made.

I'm making up for years spent not completing games and only accumulating them. And well, MMOs and live services that take a lot of commitment were to blame for that.

I have a bad habit of getting most of my fun out of learning how something works. Once I figure it out, I tend to lose interest and go on to the next new thing to learn.

In chess, I spent a lot of time studying Modern Chess Openings. How to get the best out of an opening. I have less interest in the end-game.

I learned how to gamble playing craps. Wrote a craps game, and tried different strategies using millions of dice rolls. One of the most fun parts was trying to create a truly random dice roll. I ended up using a gieger counter and using the time between ticks as the seed for the RNG. I perfected my strategy, went to Vegas and won close to $1,000, and then lost interest.

In gaming, this translates to a bad case of alt-itis. I'll figure out one setup, and before I finish the game I'll be looking at another setup to see how it compares. So my backlog is infinite.

So does mine, there is a narrow neck of indie's that won't take that long relatively and a main trunk of AA and AAA that is going to take forever.
