While it was a no brainer in terms of resources and ROI, I definitely won't be playing any post WOTLK classic. But I will play Classic plus for Vanilla. TBC or WOTLK if they do it right.

Cata classic is likely to be as unpopular as Cata was.

Cata was not unpopular. Not as popular as Wotlk? Yes, but it wasn't ..unpopular.

For me, Cataclysm Classic is one, if not, the best News this year from Blizzcon, since I can't speak for the new expansion(s).

Classic new ..season doesn't seem at all that great. Its like a private server where some "admins' were randomly playing with the classes.

    I mean I will..try it but that's basically it.

So now we know for sure that Classic is just a progression server for WoW. I'm a little shocked, honestly. I would have thought someone would have realized that WotLK was the pinnacle of the game and stop there, yet here we are. Glad I didn't invest time in classic to relive the WotLK glory days only to have the rug pulled out from under me. If I'm going to invest time in that game it might as well be retail since that's where Classic is heading, and I don't see much worth investing in there. Best of luck to them I guess.

    Why should it stop there?!

I mean there is Classic Vanilla and 100% there will be Classic Wotlk servers. If you want you can stay there. I don't see the problem.

For me however, going back to Wotlk, Cataclysm, Pandaria ( which I barely played back in the days ) its something I am looking forward as its kinda a new experience ( as much as it can be ).

    Heck, even WoD.

But .. personally, I am looking forward for Legion "Classic" , which I strongly believe that they will stop there, as the last 3 expansions after that, are literally the worst expansion in WoW history.

Legion is the best expansion WoW had, even better than Wotlk, since it introduced many good features.

So no, they will not "pull the plug" on Wotlk servers. But if you didn't even played Wotlk at all, nor playing any WoW..why are you still commenting about the servers and such ?!

So every previous expansion is "classic" now? What is "classic" even supposed to mean?

The long arguments over the turning point of WoW from the "classic" MMRPG it was to the "retail version" that is now. At what point does that even change and if all classic means is a modified progression server, then color me even more unimpressed.

The idea that "classic" WoW would or could take a different path is obvious dead. What Blizzard is selling now is just marketing hype for a game most of us already played over a decade ago now.

The main problem with cataclysm was the year long content drought leading up to the expansion and the year long content drought at the end of the expansion.

the expansion itself was mostly a continuation of what wrath already did, easy leveling, dungeon and raid gear progression through normal and heroics with superior gear given every content patch.
