I may take a dive into this one, i sat out the whole craziness of No Man's Sky as i'm not that big of a space or unfathomable heights/depths person in video games (i have a type of weird condition that makes me dizzy and nauseous in these types of games)
I'm very much interesting in a world sim however, those are right up my wheelhouse.
Fishing on Gilgamesh since 2013 Fishing on Bronzebeard since 2005 Fishing in RL since 1992 Born with a fishing rod in my hand in 1979
I'm in. Really impressed with how they stuck with MMS and turned it into something quite remarkable. If they take all the lessons they learned there and apply it to this game it's going to be very good at a minimum with the possibility of being astounding. Looking forward to seeing what they do.
The fact that the trailer has 3.1 mil views ( as we speak ), in 24h.. is mind-blowing.
I think is the most watched trailer from The Game Awards right?
Anyway..I hope its an MMO !! It has to be!! It has all the settings to be one..
It has all the settings, looks and fighting style from the trailer, but it says up to 3 players Multiplayer, and it’s procedural rendering so I doubt it’s a tru MMO. To me it’s like this. If you’re going to make a world as big as our earth, seems like it’s begging to me massively multiplayer.
But no one makes any MMORPG’s that big because normally a server can only hold a few thousand people at a time. Maybe one day when we all have 8g fiber optics to the home and we maybe get quantum computing servers, this will become a reality but we can think of a game this big as a step forward on making worlds that big. Instead of founding a guild. Maybe you can found a nation instead.
Matrix is getting closer and closer. Maybe if you trust Elon Musk and those types to implant neurolink type technology. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be joining in. Science has already extracted a song from someone’s brain and played it back. Which is creepy enough, so probably not far from nearly mind reading.
Up to 3? Where does it says?
If you pause the trailer at 1:21 , you see 6 players ( I believe they are players ) + another 1 riding that dragon.
I mean, as we speak NMS support..what? 16 players on the same screen? Or 32?
It would be a shame for Light No Fire to have only 3 "multiplayer" ..
EDIT: ..and, it has 5.1 mil views as we speak. That's fucking insane in 2 days!
GG Hello Games! Build that hype. You deserve it.
I mean ..WoW announced expansion cinematic trailer has 3.1 mil in .. 1 month or so!
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy? Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
Guys we do have good games to play till then, who cares when it comes out and what they made before, how many players can play etc? In a years time it could be a different game.
When it releases (I have to use that word now as 'launch' is used for early access!) we will see, till then Carry On Gaming.

It’s always fun talking about what might be ?

Only up to a point for me, but it is angst I don't get about a game barely of the drawing board, we can be sure of nothing at this stage don't sweat about it yet.

Actually it's been in development for 5 years. There are a lot of things we can be 99% sure of after seeing how Hello Games handled NMS as well. Updates and monetization being two huge ones. A lot of stuff can be taken at face value from the trailer and interviews as well.
I enjoyed NMS and they really turned it around with some great updates and am really looking forward to Light No Fire.

Shows you how little notice I give them before release.
But to me updates and monetarization are two of the things hardest to be sure about. That area shifts like no other and you are relying on what the studio has done in the past to tell you how the new game will be. Take Blizzard and the Diablo's you can't rely on the last iteration of a game to tell you what the monetarization will be like in the next for good or ill.
Knowing they did NMS is a big positive, but I won't get my crystal ball out on the basis of that. What I am saying is we just cannot predicate the future and as I have noticed so often is our predictions are wishful thinking. As you seem far more on the ball with this one, do tell us how the game is going when you get some more details.
