OK.  Guess theres no use.  See you again a year from now when "Alpha 2" comes out.
July to Sept "if" it hits its launch window but I have yet to meet an MMO that is on time. Steven also stated Alpha 2 is the last Alpha. Beta comes after Alpha 2.
Stephen has said a lot of things.  Much of it has turned out to not be true.  I could literally spend the weekend compling a list, but I dont think we actually need that do we?  It's Christmas :)

But for the record I believe Alhpa 2 will be the last Alpha.  But Alpha 2 is a meaningless term. It could be a day. It could be 10 years.  Star Citizen is still in what they call Alpha 3.  All that really matters is when RELEASE is, and as far as I know we don't even have a year targeted for it.    So... ZZZZZZzzzzzz
This is true of all game development. Game developers for the most part have visions of things they think will be fun. They stick it all together and then they see what's fun and works. Then they try and make a game from that. If your hunting at the lies about the release date. Horse is dead Jim and there is every evidence there's a real game there. Let's move to judging the game in front of us, as that's all that matters in the end. NDA free Alpha 2. You are going to see so much unfiltered content.

Can't agree, how they get there matters, and a house built on lies means one can never take anything they promise at face value.

They might have a NDA free Alpha 2 next fall...or the terms of the deal might change, much like this guy often did.

Every game changes during development and even after release. And that also goes for estimated tests/features/release dates etc.

If we gonna start calling every game and studio that makes changes lies then every game is built on them.

Crowdfunded game changes are public due to the open nature of their projects so we get to see that natural process more openly.

Unfortunetly, majority of gamers still can't seem to understand or deal with those changes in a mature way hence why came studios have to be so secretive and avoid leaks like the plague.

The trouble with crowd funded games is they often "sell" features which never get delivered for "reasons."

They also promise dates which turn out to have absolutely no semblance in reality, often collecting donations even after it's clear said dates can't be met

One even goes so far as to still promise backers they can get a refund on their pledge even though there is almost a 4 year backlog of many people waiting for them.

I develop software, I'm well aware of how features and dates can change, but there are limits to how long that can go on.

At some point some projects are deemed failures and their plugs are pulled, resources reallocated, and if there is still a need, the project is handed over to a new team.
