My youngest son is 10 and got his first gaming pc for Christmas. He wants to play FPS games with me. We have played some Destiny 2. Not really loving the micro-transactions. I played deep rock galactic and it never really grabbed me.
Anyone have any suggestion for a co-op pve pc game that can be played with just 2 people.
Lastly, I would prefer a game we just buy outright or at least one with limited micro-transactions.
“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

EDIT: Tiny Tina Wonderland. Also a great FPS you can play coop
EDIT 2: Arcadegeddon is also a great FPS no need to send any money past buying the game.
I would suggest:
Ark Survival Evolved - Its not a full FPS but its good for coop.
I would go with the older version rather than the new version as I heard the version has performance issues and is essentially the same game anyways. Find a private server with 3x harvesting, 10x taming
Valheim - Nice coop especially for a 10yr old. Ez to understand ez to get into. Not an FPS though. Nice starter PC game IMO. Ez to join the other persons game without needing to create a server. You can just make your game multiplayer and the other person can join the world (no hassles).
New World - Nice Ez starter MMO for new people up to level 50.
All these games are Buy to play.
GTFO, Ripout
Non-FPS Co-Op
Remnant 2 ,Return to Moria, Valheim, No Man's Sky, The Division 2, Boundless
Gamepass has tones of Coop games. Sub for a month and play a bit of everything till you find a few you want to buy.
