To bring it around, we were talking about pve players. So, if a pve player doesn't want anything to do with pvp wouldn't it be better if they looked into the world, the game, before they jumped in?
Or are you telling me that learning you can be ganked in a game you bought is "half the fun?"
Some games flat out lie about this, or are very deceptive, and they do this to dupe PvE players into playing their game. Not sure why, no PvE player is going to log into their game, get ganked and be like "I fucking love this shit!"
But there are some real douche bags that have taken this to some next levels, Case in point:
Mortal Online, says you can play as you like, if you like PvE or PvP, which is not the case, it's a PvP game, you have no option to not-PvP in that game.
BDO: Made it so that once you made like 50th, the game became Open PvP. That was a downright bullshit move by them, while they quickly made moves to change things due to the backlash, they were very dishonest about how the game was going to work.
DAOC: They also tried to advertise that you didn't have to PvP, when they were first launching to attract the PvE crowed, and when players found out, and made a public outcry about the fact that to make any meaningful advancements they would have to PvP the game lost most of it's PvE players overnight.
EVE: Now, not the company itself in this case, but There is a damn near endless stream of people spewing bullshit that you can PvE in this game, taking about staying in Safe Areas like Low Sec, but it's a PvP game, pure and simple, and it's dishonest for anyone to say otherwise.
If your game requires me to PvP during what would be normal play of the game, just flat out say "It's a PvP Game" it is not a Hybrid Game of PvP/PvE, it's a fucking PvP game and own up to it
GW2 splits up the PvP, you have to directly chose to go into the PvP areas, and they do not offer any better rewards then what you can get in PvE. They are about the closest I have seen to splitting things up right, and I still think there should be a PvE path to getting a GoB.
hmmm ... I knew Black Desert opened up pvp going in. I knew Mortal Online was a pvp game. I knew EVE was certainly a pvp game and that people would figure out loop holes in order to gank people.
Just took a bit of effort.
I don't really see why this is hard. You don't know anything about the game? Don't buy it. Find out if the game has things you don't like. It's not hard. Yes, in the example of Aion they were trying to gloss over the whole pvp part. But that just took a small bit of intuition as they were transparent about the invasions from the other faction.
Read that a few times.. as many times as you like.. till it sinks in, that it should not take effort.
If your game is a PvP game, make that clear.
Knowing anything about any game takes a little effort.
Clear declarations must still be read. To be read they must still be found.
It is impossible to effortlessly obtain information.
Nahh. If you are proud of your Game you tell people about it, You wave that banner like a mutherfukker and tell them how fucking amazing your shit is!
You only hide shit when you're embarrassed by what you did.
Yes, and they typically provide those details on a site devoted to the game. To get that information requires going to the site and doing what need be done once there, which is the bit of effort mentioned.
They will likely at times advertise the game as well, but detailed information will still require going to the site and expending a bit of effort to learn.
IF.. when I go to a game site, and they don't put it right upfront and center what the deal is going to be when I log in, fuck them, and fuck you for defending them.
By the time you go to a game site you've already put in a little effort. There is no way to gather information without doing so.

You fucked yourself, congrats!
The fuckery here is your ridiculous characterization of my post as such
Lol, I was farming skyshards in ESO in the PVP zone Cyrodil and I ganked 5 enemy players who were busy fighting the NPCs in the cave or whatever. (5 and 0 baby!)
While I have well learned how to gank, it felt good yet dirty somehow even though they were the "enemy."
After I got my shards the first time I never did it again, preferring to pay cash money to kit my alts in skyshards, at least those which came from Cyrodil.
I just do without those skyshards. It's not like I need them to complete my builds.
Ive played alot of pvp games, but from my experience, i instantly thought of albion when i read this thread. it even made me create a forum account.
I honestly don't care when i die, but albion is the worst, it's not even about the pvp, it's the way it happens.
I remember having 0spec, noob gear, etc... this guild with about 20 high geared players, chased me for 30 minutes "and no, i'm not exaggerating" i had nothing worth looting, it didn't prove their "skills" by killing me, and still, i'm fine with gankers, it was kinda sad the biggest guild in the game wasted so much time and still couldn't kill a noob like me. but what made it bad, was the entire time, they called me names, said i was scared and trash for running from a 20v1... and that's what i can't stand.
I was pvp'd in a cd, again fine, but instead of executing me"which idk why it's an option after they already killed me" but i was stuck there 5mins, couldn't log out, respawn, anything... all because someone with double my stats, and 20x worth more in gear wanted to troll and gloat.
The current meta for that game, albion, is a build that can't 1v1 anyone with equal power, but a build thats only strong for chasing weak players, and running from a fair fight..
Seems like noone on that game wants a fair fight, the guild i mentioned, i see dozens of those players every day, if i'm wearing good pvp gear, i haven't seen one of them ever participate in a 1v1, theyre ready to run, unless they find someone weak or out numbered.
Point is, it's always these players that are trash talking, always these players trolling and gloating... 0 issue's with being killed, ganked,etc... but it's always these people bragging about their "skill" because they 10v1 a noob. it's the insanity that gets me, acting like they accomplished something. I completely understand the op, it's like if i logged into warcraft with a maxed character and killed a level1 player, and came onto this forum bragging about it, you all would think i'm crazy, hopefully. but like op said, for alot of games, this behavior isn't just accepted, it's praised. and for the people doing it, who act like that, i don't think alot of them even do it to troll, i think alot of people have this delusion that feeds into a false sense of importance or worth.
I thought Albion Online was supposed to be this shining example of well done PvP. Reading the post above me it would seem to be the same shit as always. These PvP players and I am generalising only enjoy these odds and they call players who want to PvE carebears.
I remember asking about whether I could play Albion Online and play only PvE, I got a lot of encouragement to try the game but I was sceptical as I knew one cannot escape these experiences. They were encouraging the would be prey (me) to try it.
See even when you equip yourself with worthless or easily replaceable gear these types of fights where they beat you down with overwhelming odds will sour the game for a player and at some point it will be the straw that breaks the camel's back. I really think these players are so very stupid. At some point the number of people that you can kill like this will diminish and since they do not look for fair fights they will get bored and leave. This is a spiralling issue that leads to the game losing its population. It's like they do not give a damn that they are preventing the game from growing. However the foolishness of human behaviour and the need to conquer must be in our DNA because there are so many stories like this and hard to escape them in any PvP game.
I do not enjoy being harassed and called names even in a PvE game with BGs and I left League of Legends because of the name calling. I just could not handle it. Yeah I should have just soldiered on but I play games for fun and having to constantly face and play with these types of players , oh yeah they were on my team was really ruining the game. How many people can you block before your block list is full. I honestly think some players play to call people names and send nasty messages to them, that might be why they play. The fun they have harassing is their idea of fun. It will never change. So just avoid it at all cost is my solution.

Welcome to the forums!
I do wonder at the age of some players. In R6S you can hear other players on your team, some of them were no older than ten, that has to be a factor in todays PvP.

From the Main Website of Mortal Online, which is an Open World PvP Game:
Choose from many different races and professions. You decide your own style of playing and whether to focus on PvP or PvE,
This is the kind of lying bullshit fuckery you are defending, the game is Open World, Full Loot PvP, you will need to focus on PvP, you have absolutely no choice in this matter, none at all, you will have to focus on PvP, or just be prey to the other players, but you do not have the option to just avoid pvp.
You don't get to chose shit, but, players read this kind of bullshit, and the company makes it sound like they have a choice similar to how GW2 handles things, when they absolutely do not
This is why, they don't trust you, or the bullshit you defend from company sites
This makes it sound like the PvP is in fact it;s own thing, when it;s not. If you are going to play DAOC, it';s a PvP game. You cannot opt to just be a PvE player, in any real sense. (Unless they changed a lot of crap since I started playing)
The Adventure Begins The beautiful lands of Albion, Hibernia, and Midgard await you! Follow our New User Journey to gain levels and relevant gear for your class; or venture off the beaten path to explore the realms, defeat foes, and complete quests. However you choose to play, this is the beginning of a wonderful journey!
This make it sound like a PvE game! A Game I can just PvE in, with no worries about any kind of PvP happening to me.
Venture to the RvR battlegrounds to find and fight other players around your character’s level or to complete highly rewarding quests in these dangerous locales.
This makes it sound like the PvP is it's own separate thing, like how GW2 might do it, where this is totally it's own game mode, when in reality, is not. This is what the game is about, again, unless they changed things, the PvP was the staple of the game, you were pretty much dead ended in DAOC if you didn't PvP.
Maybe things have changed and this is not pure bullshit lying.. maybe... maybe not. Only the old head core players would really know at this point.

I am not and need not defend anything I am not responsible for.
What I have maintained is that one must spend a bit of effort to learn about a game in opposition to your originally stated view that it should take none whatsoever.

Basic game info
Mortal Online is a first-person MMORPG in a fantasy setting.
In
Mortal Online there are no PvP zones, only an open realistic world
where you are free to choose your own path. Experience true real-time
combat where you decide every move your character makes and where your
personal skill really matters.
Build your own house, or set up a
guild to build a keep. With enough power, violence or diplomacy, you and
your allies will be able to rule an entire nation.
Choose from
many different races and professions. You decide your own style of
playing and whether to focus on PvP or PvE, both sharing the same game
world. Devote your life to crafting, combat, magic or trading. Discover
new skills, tools and resources. Or be the first to explore new areas to
put your name on the map.
You were quite selective in what you chose to disclose of that information, such that one could say relevant elements were left behind for some reason. How odd.
You can just PvE in DAoC, as is made clear on their RvR & Server Types page. There you can find detailed Cooperative Servers which are exclusively PvE.
Anyone that goes to the sites of these games will know with a bit of effort.
They do in games what they would get their asses kicked for in real life.
A lot of the internet is like this.
Isn't it ? I'm happy with my convictions though. I talk to people in "real life" like I do here. If I think they are idiots, I tell them. And usually, it ends in a discussion rather than a fight anyway, and often in a shared beer. It's only online that little dipshits can get away with utterly bad behavior, well, because... they aren't built or equipped for anything that looks like discussion, or if it fails, a fight. And they probably also vent a lot of RL frustations in their online ingame behavior.

Don't mistake the difference between being a game you (or I) find fun and being successful. Albion was brought up as an example of a SUCCESSFUL open world full loop PvP game. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but one cannot argue that it was successful beyond it's wildest dreams.
Albion was a game that was designed to appeal to enough players to have sustained itself for 7 years since full launch and I think about 10 years since they started early access.

LOL. That Mortalonline site is some kind of half assed site they tossed up recently. Everyone knows Mortal was a full open world PvP game. I'm certainly not going to defend Starvault, a company that I beat up so badly on these forums that their CEO uses my name as a profanity and they have me banned as persona-non-grata on their site. But if you go to the current (not squarespace lol" mortalonline2.com you will see the very open quote:
"In Mortal Online 2, players are never truly free from danger. There are no specific PvP or safe zones, only an open, realistic world where you are free to choose your own path"
Then for DAoC.. again... they have a COOP server. They have since launch. Why post stuff like this when it's so easy to see how misinformed it is?

I will happily continue doing me. At least I am honest.
DAoC had normal, co-op and full pvp servers. You could happily never pvp unless you wanted to, then you had to stray out into the frontiers to do so. It is really obvious some experts never really played the game. BTW, it is still the best pvp game I have ever played. Then EA happened.....

You do realize that the Bolded part, is the kind of word play that makes them even more dishonest in their presentation of the game then I actually made them out to be
I'll be honest, Supporting Dishonest Portrayal of a game is a strange hill to die on, as it only discredits the reliability of your own explanation of game, but.. You do you.

The full quote is more honest than taking bits from it so they can be presented out of context in an effort to support your baseless argument.
Why would people consult someone that makes claims about a game that the site clearly shows not to be so. While your information may be reliable for games you are quite familiar with you've shown it can't be otherwise relied on.
You claim to be keen on honesty but demonstrably have less regard for accuracy.
DAoC had normal, co-op and full pvp servers. You could happily never pvp unless you wanted to, then you had to stray out into the frontiers to do so. It is really obvious some experts never really played the game. BTW, it is still the best pvp game I have ever played. Then EA happened.....
One need not even play the game to know it is so as the site for it provides this information. Expending a bit effort is all that was needed to prevent his inaccuracy.
Albion isn't really a FFA Full Loot PVP game. You have plenty of safe areas, and even more areas with reputation based PVP. There are few black zones.

You claim to be keen on honesty but demonstrably have less regard for accuracy.
Let's set it out for you: When as Game is a Full Loot Open World Game.
Ungood's Stand: Companies should be Upfront on Honest about their Product. Ungood Supports things like Mortal Online 2's Steam Review that says:
A persistent sandbox world. No classes or levels. Train the skills you want for your own unique build. Player-driven trade, economy, and housing. Millions of crafting combinations. First-person immersive combat. Exploration. Bosses. Full loot, full PvP. The world of Nave is yours - who will you be?
This gives a very direct, straight forward explanation of the game mechanics, and what a player can expect logging in. There is nothing deceiving going on here, it's Full Loot, Full PvP. Right there, lays it out.
KnightFalz's Stand: Companies can be as deceptive as as they want and it's on the player to have to hunt down the info if they want to know what the real deal is.
Knightfalz supports things like Mortal Online Home site review that says:
Basic game info Mortal Online is a first-person MMORPG in a fantasy setting. In Mortal Online there are no PvP zones, only an open realistic world where you are free to choose your own path. Notice very clearly that this does not lay out what to really expect when getting into the game, they do not make it clear or concise that this is in fact a fully open world PvP game, they use really deceptive word play to dance that point, going so far as to try to play it off that you can chose between playing the game PvE or PvP. Also notice that there is no mention at all about it being full loot.
That's what Knightfalz supports and defends.
Like I said, you have picked a very strange, and in my person opnion a very stupid, hill to die on.
But you keep doing do you.
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.
Why can't they just say it is an open world PvP game? Of course it might frighten players who are not inclined to PvP. So they use vague terms like no PvP zones. Does that mean it is all PvE then? What does no PvP zone mean? It can mean there is no PvP zone or that all of it is a PvP zone.
If it was a PvE game they don't say there are no PvE zones because it is not an issue. However not knowing the game is an open world full loot PvP game is not a good thing for a buyer. It should be clearly informed on the game description what type of PvP the game has. Describing it as having a choice is also a lie. You don't get to choose. You either play the PvP game or don't.
I thought Albion Online was supposed to be this shining example of well done PvP. Reading the post above me it would seem to be the same shit as always. These PvP players and I am generalising only enjoy these odds and they call players who want to PvE carebears.

But does Albion gate valuable resources, gear, have efficiency bonuses or other the average PVE player might desire in zones where PVP is enabled in any fashion?
I know it does so in my mind it's a PVP game just like EVE even if it's not FFA Full loot everywhere like Mortal Online games.
I feel one is just quibbling in trying to distinguish between EVE, Albion and Mortal.
For all purposes they differ by a matter of degree and are FFA full loot PVP games at their core despite the prevalence of safer areas.

By the time you go to a game site you've already put in a little effort. There is no way to gather information without doing so.

I just do without those skyshards. It's not like I need them to complete my builds.

I do wonder at the age of some players. In R6S you can hear other players on your team, some of them were no older than ten, that has to be a factor in todays PvP.

Read this Site: https://www.darkageofcamelot.com/content/new-players-guide
This makes it sound like the PvP is in fact it;s own thing, when it;s not. If you are going to play DAOC, it';s a PvP game. You cannot opt to just be a PvE player, in any real sense. (Unless they changed a lot of crap since I started playing)
The beautiful lands of Albion, Hibernia, and Midgard await you!
