Rarely has a game seen so much criticism in its first 24 hours as Dragon's Dogma 2 to a slew of player complaints. Capcom's response leaves much to be desired.
Comments
Overwatch 2 was burned to the ground within the first hours of it's Steam release.
Batman Arkham Knight saw mostly negative reviews within the first 12 hours.
The Last Of Us Remastered got dumped on almost immediately.
GTA: San Andreas Remastered was a dumpster fire that might still be burning to this day.
Diablo 4 on steam.... don't get me started.
There are more, these are just a big budget ones i...oh! Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint!
Still, there are so SO many more i haven't mentioned.
Poorly reviewed games aren't rare.... they occur alot but they all hit differently for different reason's.
Dragon's Dogma 2 might be the first in awhile to get poorly reviewed for a lot of the wrong reasons though; so the 'rarely' sentiment does hold there.
Or to be more explicate, it's not wholly the games fault, but Capcom cashing in a lot of that goodwill it had been building up for the last decade, in exchange for a quick cash return; and it backfired; horribly.
Folks would have been okey with the poor PC performance, they would have weathered it like they do any other initial PC launch that eventually is patched and fixed up, but if they don't remove a lot of those DLC's from the shop, and soon, like ( right now ) i fear the steam reviews will never recover.
Which sucks, because the game itself is amazing, I'm having a blast personally.

"Still, seriously, who do big games companies think they are anymore, especially with the $70 price tag? "
In this case creators of a 9.5 rated game according to this site and well worth $70 if actually true.
"It turns out that there are things that you can do in the game, but can be made available more easily by paid microtransactions, using real money. The biggest ones? Fast travel, escapes from jail, and character customization"
These seem pretty minor actually.

Anyway
There's another game that had micro transactions in a single player game and ditched them due to player demand. Shadow of War did exactly that, and the reviews subsequently changed for the better. Currently rated Very Positive on Steam. I recommend Capcom follows suit.
Regardless I'm enjoying the game and have no intention of purchasing micro transactions.
Performance issues? Why are people surprised? All of these games are released with Performance issues. Wait 3-4 months and ut will have improved

Thinking like that makes you the problem. If you can't learn from the past and see where this type of predatory behavior goes then that's on you. BUT here is a small insight, when the company sees you're willing to pay for it, then they will be willing to remove the free version in the next game.

But "the game" is excellent. It's the company that's not so much.

Where did I say I bought anything? I don't need this junk and neither does anyone else. And if you want it you get it in game for free. Anyone else paying for it does not affect you in any way whatsoever.
Games that devs make shit.
Games that execs make shit.
This is the second case.
MTX is 100% optional.
ALL resources in MTX available in game (FARM UP)
Call them suckers call them whatever you want!
MTX is nothing more than a convenience and it's the PLAYERS that allow themselves to fall victim if they claim to be a victim. THERE IS NO FINE PRINT! It's pretty obvious.
If you're not a Victim then you Cry R US all about it how predatory it is.
If you're not a victim HTF does it effect you? You're wallet is safe! No one is forcing you! Shit you do not even have to buy the game.
The options:
* You don't have to buy the game
* You do not have to buy anything from MTX
* You can use MODS to gain the same resources
* You do not have to use MODS to gain the same resources
* You can just simply play the game
* You can just continue to QQ all over the internet so folks like me can just laugh at you.
My favorite is folks complaining about the $70 price, meanwhile, arguing that folks should be able to work a livable wage, however, you want things to be cheap and affordable.
ARE YOU SERIOUS? I assumed you were one of the smart ones in the group! Nexus Mod has a DD2 Save Manager. WTF are you limited yourself?
I have friends that still do this, I tell them not talk to me about it. These cats make more money than me too. However, as soon as I talk about the macros I make for these games, they condone my actions as if it were a sin. Then I remind them the difference between the two.
only poor people pirate games.
does that make you feel good about yourself?
are the micro transaction in your face or are they in a store that you can only find if you seek it out? In a single player game micro transactions dont bother me if I dont have them advertised to me in game...I will use WoWs shop as an example of not being in your face and nothing in the store needed in game
Bottom line;
Why should I care if someone else is stupid enough to give the company more cash after paying the 70 dollar entry fee when it dosnt effect my game at all
Godz of War I call Thee
I would say folks that like to be cheap pirate games. I have friends who make more money than me and are a bunch of cheap skates.
What ever makes you feel better about stealing.
