While cozy MMO Palia has seen a steadily growing following, its beta is having a harder time catching on via Steam... because it doesn't say it's a beta, and it plays as such, according to players.

That said... it's F2P. I'm not quite sure what the big deal is. Is it fear of a wipe?

I have no idea where this game is right now in its development, and frankly, i'm not certain i care to know anymore, and not even because of the game itself, but more due to how 'icky' s6 is beginning to appear.

What do you guys mean 'big deal' and 'forum drama'? Isn't it just the same thing we do here? I mean, without any outside reporter or website caring to notice this extremely niche part of the gaming internet.
Hope it works out for you all.

Thanks Scot I hope so too, I really did enjoy the game I just felt like being 'in beta' gave the game so much more leniency then a full release game typically would so me bringing this up was really from a point of concern about the user sentiment. I never expected so many of us would get shunned from the community for it.
.........yeesh, yikes, etc.
They are probably hiding it's beta status, but so what, as others mentioned it's a free to play game and ATM it is quite easy to discern it's not finished, just logging in will probably make that pretty obvious.

Instead they choose to continue making the game's beta status hard to spot. It's ongoing scammy behavior from them, and I think they deserve all the crap they get until they change their behavior.
Talking of which I should be playing my latest.
Are they going to wipe?
If not, I really fail to see the difference.

I'm sorry but you are misinformed. The game was not crowd funded.
Many of us alpha/beta testers have raised concerns about S6 scrubbing the 'Beta' label off the game when convenient. We only asked that the store fronts accurately declare the game's beta state, and were banned for it.
The reason this is important was actually for the games sake. Palia being in beta earns it a lot of good gamer sentiment that it otherwise does not deserve. Missing features, endless bugs, game-breaking/progress-breaking issues that linger for months. All of this is understandable in a beta game, but looks bad in a full release with 50$ macro-transactions
We've been good rule-abiding users in this community for months/years now and don't deserve the unfair "consequences" of simply asking for the company to be honest...
It might seem like they're hiding something by releasing on Steam and not labelling it as early access even after stating it's still in beta on their own website a few days ago. It's not a good first impression on Steam IMO. Most people on Steam probably have never heard of this game until last week and now it looks like the developers are trying to trick them into playing an early access game knowing that many people are unwilling to play games that are unfinished. It's not a huge deal as it's f2p but there are a lot micro-transactions and I don't know if there will be a wipe on full release. A lot of people would feel like they're wasting their time playing a game only to have all their progress wiped away.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about a wipe since they would get too much legal blow back if they were to do one and not just from people but from companies like epic/steam/etc. If you look at least the generic post steam gives to all early access games before devs write their little 'why,' it'll always preface game status. Without that preface, the game is considered 'released' even if its not 'complete.' Backend wise, they might not have wanted to put it up as EA simply because many EA products have some kind of monetary increase compared to 'released' prices, so it might've increased the micro-transaction prices if they chose that route or at the very least the percentage steam may have wanted from the mtx. I'm not defending any of this, but it does help to 'dislike' something for the 'right' reasons.

Usually I would say you're probably right but in this instance I'm not sure. I posted a question on their Reddit page and they removed it saying "At this time, there are many posts regarding this subject. In an attempt to not rehash subjects and keep feedback centralized, please find an existing post to contribute your thoughts and feedback. Your post is currently under review by the moderation team." That's fine but when I went to look for a post on the beta issue, there were none, at least nothing recent. My post was as follows "I keep seeing conflicting stories as to the status of this game. Last time I played this, which was a few months ago, it was stated that it was still in beta/early access. I don't see any such notification on the Steam page. I'd like to play this on Steam but want to wait for the full release version. Thanks." I don't feel it was rude or toxic.
I feel like they're trying their best to shove any concerns people have as to it's beta/early access status under the rug. If that's what they want to do, fine, their game and their subreddit/discord but I don't like it and don't want to support a company that does that sort of thing. If they're not willing to be open and transparent about something so simple as whether or not the game is in development then it leads me to believe they're not a trustworthy organization and therefore not worth my time.
