The time for Star Wars to capture fire has long past. The game was not great even then. Today there is no need to return, again to the old. For the mmorpg genre to flourish it needs to new games with new settings with new ideas on how an mmorpg should be played. Not retread gameplay from a bygone era
if we had emu servers that were not run by corrupt or power hungry administrators I would still be playing.
???
Seems a bit strong. I'll grant you my son and I had a bit of a kersuffle with what I'm guessing was a brand new mod on the Legends server, but one of the senior guys stepped in and straightened the guy out and helped us.
I won't go into the long list but mainly they play favorites. I know people on legends that abuse multiaccounting to own multiple cities solo, they do nothing. I also know people on swgemu that have made massive scams and ruined tons of game play, admins do nothing. I could go on but it's not the time or place for it.
I have played SWG: Restoration. It was great nostalgia for a game I loved the first time I played it prior to NGE. The problem is, it just cannot keep up with the current state of gaming today. If SWG 2 were to come out, I would give it a try. Graphically it would be far superior, or should be. The mechanics, if they borrowed from the original game, could be improved. And, they could add depth that the original lacked in story. SWTOR is a good experience but it became a grind fest after a while, something a lot of MMOs fall into. Disney owns Star Wars and has the last say if any remake or SWG 2.0 ever comes out.
May have been mentioned, but the mere fact that Restoration is the only emulator mentioned is suspect. Last I checked there's at least 4 emu projects with good player numbers. How can you possibly not mention the OG, swgemu. The game would be truly gone without that project. If the future of Galaxies lies with Disney there is no future.

Emu is kinda dead and the folks working on the project kinda help kill it, plus it's still broken. Sad to say but Restoration and Legends are the best working and most popular now. There is a CU version coming
why would disney be interested in bringing back SWG? when the game was live it went from a decent starting population to dead in less then 3 months, then they did the NGE a handfull of people came back but not many..emus having 1k players isnt enough cash to even get a sneeze outta a corp the size of disney, finally 99 out of 100 people who claimed to have played swg and how great it was-didnt play it
this is utter bs provin you were not playing back then and was not probably even alive yet irl either
wrong I was there in beta and my discription is reality and today everybody claims they played it...they didnt or there would have been no need for them to change the game to draw players in
Lots of people did play SWG at launch. It sold around a half million very quickly ...
... but, then, everyone left just as quickly when they realized it was a buggy, broken mess of a game that had little chance of being fixed.
