I am pretty certain it is going to be. Now, whether it's going to be as good as the first one ... that's the challenge: to surpass it.
Why does it have to surpass it? Why can't it just be good enough on its own. This kind of expectation is why Valve will never make Halflife 3, or many other sequels get shelved. No studio wants to make a game that's good, but "not good enough for the IP", and then risk getting shuttered. Fable is another one facing that same horrible situation.
Having played the first one, honestly the bar isn't high. I mean it's good if you're into Warhammer 40k lore but as a basic 3rd person shooter it's pretty average. Fun, but not some award winning work of art. The primary reason fans of the original are so excited is the first one ends on a HUGE cliff hanger and that was back in 2011! It's been 13 years. We're excited to suit back up as now Lieutenant Titus and see where the story goes next and if he can redeem himself in the eyes of the Imperium. The fact this one even has co-op as well as game modes to play after you beat the campaign already puts it ahead of the first one. The visuals are for sure everything you could hope for from the videos released so far.
Go watch videos on YouTube of the original. I think you'll find they're very much on track to create a solid sequel when comparing that to the recent gameplay videos released.
Are you still unaware after all this time that this site has had to report and write about single player games and non MMORPGs because it has to survive.
Are you feigning ignorance because this is tiresome for us and I am well aware that you are aware and are just trying to be cute with the questions.
Are you paying this site to keep it running? If you are not then I doubt you have any say in how they decide to run it. They have staff and people they need to pay and MMORPG coverage was not enough. In spite of the name of this site it is covering other games. Deal with it.
I noticed even Massively Overpowered is covering multiplayer games that are not MMORPGs. They cover games like Grim Dawn and Plant versus Zombies and co-op games and not to forget MOBAs.
Grim Dawn is awesome by the way. They just had a huge update. One of the best developers I swear they need many accolades for supporting this fantastic game for so long. What an absolute giant of a developer.

The simple answer is usually more money is spent making a sequel so the expectation is that it will be more successful, at least financially.
Of course it's quite possible for sequels to make more money but be artistically inferior, in fact I would argue many are but there are notable exceptions of course.
Almost impossible for HF3 to live up to expectations for many reasons so probably better it never gets made.
I would not mind a few good remasters of the first two though.

But I will say, I would be happy if the game was as good as the first one, just better graphics would be fine.

There's a reason for that. It's not.

The game is going to do just fine.

Why not go there and haunt and pester them for not choosing to cover only 'massively' games. Isn't 'massively' the title of their site.
Grim Dawn under no circumstances can be considered an MMORPGs even with a generous interpretation of that acronym.
