So much crying about games that release too early because they should have taken their time to do it right... then more crying if games take their time to do it right... then more crying if they are having trouble funding and may close their doors... then more crying if they have a kickstarter to keep the doors open.

It's as if people started using news and updates as a justification to cry rather than a way to get a little information.

And nobody is forcing you to give money. Stop crying about it.

This.  I would rather them take their time and take other peoples money to release a good game that i will play someday, than take my money and get the run-of-the-mill cash grab steaming pile of garbage that was released to early.  Game is on my radar.

Gamers can be fickle. You just can't please everyone. That's why I appreciate a developer that sticks mostly to their vision and keeps making their game.
My issue is the misleading statements and dishonestly (like FOMOing the ALPHA 2 stuff).  My take is that if you are a company or individual spending your OWN money you can delay, change, or do anything else you want to the game.  As soon as you start to take and spend OTHER people's money, you have an obligation to reasonably deliver what you promised them.
It stopped being other peoples money when they gave it to them willingly. Nobody is forced to do so but they do anyway.
Ahh, sort of like my church tithes...no refunds either if I don't get what was promised me.

How high will your standards be when the game drops and if you have no box price, the game is good and you only need to sub a monthly fee? Would you stand your ground then?

    Sticks to their vision?

Are you seriously saying that about Ashes of Creation?

Their combat system has changed like 3 times.

Remember when they tried turning AoC into a Battle Royale game but it failed so spectacularly they tried to pass it off as a combat test?

Sure.  but it WASN'T before they took it.   If we follow your train of thought, as soon as I pay for ANY item I no longer have any expectation about what I get in return because "it stopped being other people's money when they gave it to them willingly".  Silly statements like that distract from an actual conversation.

They were able to TAKE it because of the statements they made.  Yes, we know that development can change.  And yes we know that timeline can change.  That doesn't in any way shape or form relieve the company from the obligation I stated.

I am not seeing how those would have any bearing on the behavior of the company.  As I said, multiple times, I hope the game is good.  I also think Stephen is a slimeball.  But I think many companies are bad actors and still use their products. Heck, I might even be posting this from an Apple product. Or have a Google tab open.
