Sony has officially revealed the PlayStation 5 Pro. The new console will hit store shelves on November 7th and will sell for $699.99 USD for a version without a disk drive.

I have zero interest in this.
Not sure, other than the FOMO crowd, what group they are going for here.
I also wonder if it will be worth it from an ROI perspective.
2024...
Whether anyone who already plays PS5 upgrades or not is less important, since consoles have low profit margin anyway. More of the profit is made through selling software, services and accessories to existing owners.

Those wanting to take the dive into PC's would have a reason not to bother with a $1k total package price tag. Especially when a gaming PC will cost you twice as much. Sony's culture toward gaming would have to shift more toward the way Microsoft does with Xbox and I just don't see that happening anytime soon.
Sony shared that in Q1 2024 (which the link does not show) they sold 2.4 million PS5s. I am one of those btw.
PS5 Sales Reach 60 Million Milestone, Now at 61.7 Million Consoles Sold | Push Square
From April to June 2024 their sales dropped 27%
PS5 Console Sales Are Down (gamerant.com)
48,000+ on this one poll but there are poll after polls of people not seeming interested in what Sony is trying to do here.
On top of that, the PS5 price went up in some regions and the controller prices just went up worldwide.
Their revenue strategy is a bit confusing.
Probably out of 40k users who voted no, half already owns a PS console , 5 or 4 and the other half, an Xbox. Also , add the "not interested in buying ANY console" in the 40k too since my half/half is a bit .. biased!
Anyway! I find it very good, that 15%, 7-8k from that 48k are willing to buy the PS5 Pro. That is a lot actually.
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy?
Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
My guess is when tech reviewers break this down, they will have the same thoughts as you.
years ago a friend who liked games was given a pc but didn’t like the price tag of upgrading components or even researching them. He also didn’t like dealing with issues to get certain games running.
He bought a console and never looked back.

I cannot remember the last time I used a disk drive.
It is odd that they'd even offer a disk drive; or talk about a price without it.
Also one of your links said that PS5 sales forecast for this fiscal year is 18 million units, so if anything my earlier comment about them selling more than a million consoles per month was conservative estimation.
Also I don't understand why you're complaining that my numbers aren't current. The link I posted has same numbers as both of the links you posted.
EDIT: Did you perhaps miss that the Q1 2024 means Q1 for Sony's fiscal year, which is April - June. It does not mean January - March even if it's named Q1 because fiscal years are not the same as calendar years /EDIT.
I hear all these complaints about the economy and yet this sort of thing is going to sell.
I don't know what is real anymore.
Another site I frequent is discussing the ramifications of this reveal on the eventual Switch successor's launch price. Interesting theories about what N will do based on how well this goes.
