Everything about this game just looks cheap and bad. This isn't Dragon Age, I'm not even going to address the other garbage about the game here.
Absolutely nothing about this game looks cheap.
Bad? That’s subjective. The change in art design certainly is a damn shame in my eyes.
Not in this video but The icon on the screen during combat and traveling around look like AI generated crap. The hand holding on previous videos puzzles is lazy.
Sure this video looks good buts a hand pick pr video it better look good.
It's clearly made a particular audience. The same audience that didn't care for DA: Origins or the first two Baldur's Gate game. The audience that thought D&D was lame until Stranger Things and Critical Roll gave them permission to like it (And 5E made it incredibly easy to survive and progress, regardless of your choices). This is Fantasy for the champions of the 'current year' Not for fans of literary fantasy or the great CRPGs of yesteryear.

I’ll be very up front… a lot of players really don’t want challenging puzzles. Oh you hear that they do, but they don’t. I think there are “puzzle players “ and then everyone else.
Why do you think the buttons look ai generated?

I think players do want good puzzles, after all if they are too tough you just use a guide and cheat. I think easy difficulty levels on some games even make the puzzles easier.

Critical Roll and 5E are some of the absolute, flat out, worst things to have ever happened to D&D. To be 100% fair, I don't agree with anything that they did after 2nd edition (AD&D), that's really when it started to go downhill. And let's be honest, everyone forgets 4E was ever even a thing.
2 people on the dragon doing nothing. Dragon doesn't even care (his life bar for sure doesn't care).
You pause the video at any moment with the dragon near the character and you just get shivers. Such bad graphics. It's not even the "artistic choices" (which by the way are unbelieveable weird) they are plain bad. Look at the ground for godsake! the water!!! Ripples go in any direction not even where you move and in a 2 inch depth they go for meters...
Pause the video at 2:28. Compare that dragon with the dragon from Raid: Shadow Legends... this is not even a bad joke. This artistic choice is the excuse for having bad graphics. You can't convice me otherwise.
I liked that there is less UI messing with the fight. Not sure if it's something reserved for these "boss fights" but looks way better than previous videos that way.

They say they do but they don’t. I believe that most people do use guides. And that’s fine. But I think for developers the conundrum might be why create clever puzzles when players are just going to look up the answers.
I’ve had several people asking me to publish my mod without the puzzles. So I showed some to some’non-gamer friends’ and they solved them no problem. So not impossible.
And the whole point was to create puzzles that one had to solve. Not plow through like all the rest of the Skyrim puzzles.
so that’s why a game like this has brain dead puzzles.

wonder if they're going to shutter bioware after this or keep it open because of government subsidies
My guess this is the last game we will see from Bioware.
Definitely not the last game we will see from Bioware. This will do decently, heck with all the hate look at how well commecially DA:I did. Is it DA:O from my vantage as an old school player no. Does it look like something i will play? Yes. Bioware still tells stories and playing DA:I from start to finish after Trespasser was released and all of the improvements in between made it a decently good story game. Yes i hate what the did to the Qunari in this but i will play this and i believe i will enjoy playing it while pining for more tactical and layered RPGs. The new Mass Effect will come out.
I've been playing D&D/TTRPGs since 2012 thanks to a women's college TTRPG club and you can smell the reason more people don't play in this thread. Not that it's relevant to the subject at hand. Anyway.
The trend is moving towards action games, and it's happening to almost every franchise because it's tried and true and widely-appealing and exciting.
On the flip side, Baldur's Gate 3 shows people do want CRPGs, or any other genres... When they're not stuffy, frustrating, and unapproachable in vibes and intended audience.
It looks kinda cool, ill get it for like 20-30 bucks though.

Is it just me or do the heads look too big for the bodies? There's something really off about the character models. Also, I'd never pay full price for this. I'll try it in a few years when it's like $25 or given for free by Epic or in the monthly Humble Choice.
Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.
it just looks terrible everything about it looks terrible. They just don't know how to make games anymore. For all the complaints about the last one it was fun and had a great story. They could have just made a clone took some of the things people didn't like out and carried on the story and people would be happy.

So, again, subjective. The last one wasn't great and the story from where I got to was "ok."
It certainly looked MUCH better than this. But, they decided to go with this highly stylized more "friendly" look.
I am literally trying to force myself to get through the part of inquisition where I quit with the hopes that something hooks me.
Maybe this one will be fun but look horrible. I will say that there are people who love this type of stylized look so for them it's not only a non-issue but a positive.
We'll see.

Bioware only exists as a business name. The company itself departed many years ago. EA now simply uses Bioware as a business label. A bit like Coca-Cola using Sprite and other brands for its business.
So I would not expect the Bioware label to disappear any time soon. But it is not the Bioware as people think of it, it's just 'EA doing business as...' (insert whatever registered trademark they own).
For me graphics , art style and all that are not important, I play 2d and pixel games without issues. I need a good story and good combat. I loved the first game. I didn't enjoy the second one and third was okay. I am willing to give this game a chance if the action combat does not kill me in its twitchiness. Too much dodging, jumping about and I am out.
I can manage a little action but if I am facing a sponge and have to dodge like a loon no matter how good the game is I am not torturing my hands for it. Right now I am playing through the Tales games and am playing Tales of Bersaria which is action combat but I can manage it because I have a group. When my hand gets tired I heal the others. I am playing on normal difficulty.
I did however give up Last Epoch because my carpal stared acting up. The problem is the controller works like crap in it and I had to use KB and mouse. I try to limit the clicks on mouse because my right hand is the problem but my left began to hurt as well. This is the future for all players as they grow old. These types of action combat is the bane of our poor hands. Take care not to end up like me in your old age.
My issue with action combat is the toll it takes on my hands. Not the combat itself. I hope that makes sense.
There was this game called Tails of Iron which I really wanted to play but the tip of my finger on the controller was sore from pressing the button so many times trying to fight his brother and I refunded the game. I really cannot understand the appeal of this type of combat but who am I to judge. Just an old biddy with sad tired hands.
