I can't predict the future, however, I hope that RF online, RO2 will be good because i'm really looking forward to those. >_< Chronicles of SpellBorn is really fun also...but I still wanna test out RFonline, RO2 =[ The funny thing is...it's odd for a game like RO to have a RO2 xD
I've gotta agree with Tyzen over there. RF Online is getting a massive American/European fan base, and maybe in terms of gameplay may not be able to compete with WoW, but the amount of players they're gonna get might be massive. Plus, I've been telling almost everyone I know about to the game to wait for it, so meh, lol.
Another thing is that is one of the only foreign MMORPGs I've ever seen get a sure Eastern Release so fast. I only heard about this game like in September, and by November(I believe, not sure, it's been a while) CODEMASTERS decided to bring the game over to the U.S. And not at all too soon, either. Considering PRFO blocked IPs not from the Phillipenes even during the beta.
LOTR would be a good draw. A blast from the past that has never been fully recreated successfully would own as an online MMO. A game that is similar to David Brabens "Elite" would tap on a massive group of people who would like the playability and entertainment that this title provided for years, to be modernised.
I dont see any new MMOs to be that great. Its all about the person whose playing them. I enjoy the cut throat PK aspect that UO (pre trammel) had. In the beginning it was a pain in the ass because you had to fend for yourself, but it just seems like everyone is looking to be spoon fed in these new MMOs. Its kind of sickening me. Everyone is looking for instance missions to go on when the best part of a game for me was to go to a dungeon and have the suprise of being chased down by a Blood Elemental or something...ya know? Or group together with a bunch of friends and go looking for player killers, or become a player killer myself, eh it was just the good ol times. pussies.
Ive got two choices, run, or stay and fight...And I dont see no doors...
I think it will be Vanguard. LOTR should be the game to end all games. But I don't think it will. "LFG to kill Balrog" just doesn't sit well with me. In my opinion, Turbine doesn't really make that great of games. Aside from AC, I haven't like anything they've done. AC2 wasn't that great....D&D is bad. I know some of you might like D&D Online and that's cool. But it will never be a huge game.
I can't say if Vanguard will be a good game or not, I haven't tried it myself. But it has some of the guys that built the game that most games get compared to. So it will at least make some noise when it's released. Dark and Light is pretty much out of it. I had high hopes for that one. But it isn't looking so good anymore, with all that's been happening. That company is trying to do too much with too little resources. RF seems like more of a niche game to me. It looks cool if you're into that sort of thing. But I'm out on that one.
my wishes: A modern version of UO. EQ done with EQ2's engine (provided they can come up with more than brown and gray for colors). A real Star Wars MMO.
Originally posted by disstress It will be Vanguard SOH, it will be on XBOX 360 and PC. It will be the WoW competition. But I would personally like for it to be Chronicles of Spellborn It all depends on marketing and of course online communities like this. MMORPG.com is a huge influence on what happens to a game. IMO word of mouth + discussion boards like this=make or break a game.
i dont believe vanguard has any plans to be on xbox 360 as of yet, but it will be the next BIG mmorpg!
RF, Aage of Conan and Hero's Journey....oh jebus almost forgot about Star Trek ....I see the most "positive" feed back from gamers that come to this website.
Star Trek....image how many new MMORPG gamers we will get that day *shutters to think of the numbers.*
Chronicles of Spelborn looks like a huge competitor for WOW. All my friends who play WOW now keep saying there just waiting for this to come out. I hope it turns out to be as sweet as it sounds. Hero's Journey looks like it maybe a big competitor too. Only time will tell hu?

The ones I think that will make good competition is RF online, Warhammer Online, Tabula Rasa, Vanguard, and Conan.
There are some decent Free to play I have seen come out, just need some srious sever resolvements, and to weed out most of the hack/botters( you can get rid of them all). Two memorable onesare RAN Online( japan ese campus style game , think Yu-Yu Hakusho) and Gate to Heaven ( serious hack/bot issues, if resolved can be really fun). They are both by E-Games ( www.e-games.com.my ). If E-games was serious about handleing the bot, hacks, server issues, it would be a great hub for MMO fans.
I am hoping to see Space Cowboy( MMORPG of sci-fi jet dog fights,) do better in its testing, but at this moment, just barely out of OB and got hack issies on the site and in game. I am looking forward to see how Zero online does( mech style MMORPG).
This year seems to be the year for unique games with some interesting features ( Space Cowboy allows you to create a playlist of your own MP3s as BGM), and MMO based after oldschool ( Warhammer Fantasy, Conan, D&D, LotR). Never know what will make it to the top though.
I personally like to see Warhammer Fantasy work out. Only time will tell.
THEY SAY THAT THERE ARE GOOD TITLES IN KOREA, BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT'S DIFFICULT TO FIND A GOOD LANGUAGE TRANSLATOR FOR USE IN THAT KIND OF SITE.......

The funny thing is...it's odd for a game like RO to have a RO2 xD
Games I'm looking forward to:
1. Chronicles of Spellborn
2. Pirates of the Burning Sea
3. Dark and Light
4. Vanguard
5. the 30th EQ1 expansion
"A single battle you have won, but so quick to think that this will be the end? I, like fear, am eternal, and in your dreams, I shall forever haunt."
dacraziboi are you currently testing TCoS? I know you cant give me any info but i just havent met anyone yet who is testing it.
I don't think there will be a next big MMORPG in the next 6 months to 2 years. I think it will be a game that isn't even on anyone's radar right now.
Maybe Age of Conan will be big but everyone will compare it to WoW subscribers and say it's not that big. Also what would be considered big nowadays?
In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.
I would say any game that can get over the 200k subscriber mark is a pretty big hit.

I havent been involved in a game so much ever.
Elite was amazing

I CAN'T BELIEVE GUYZ HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES ARE PLAYING RFONLINE...IT'S SICK AND IT'S LAME...
WELL I BELIEVE THE NEXT BIG MMORPG HIT WOULD BE A GAME HAVING A DIFFERENT GAMEPLAY.
A GAME WITH STRATEGY, UNITY AMONG PLAYERS TAKING DIFFERENT SIDES, HAVING A BIG MAP WITH GOOD GRAPHICS.
A GOOD GAME APART FROM ANY USUAL GRINDS...
Hm..
From what I've seen/heard RF ain't that bad a game..
And yes,I personally think Age of Conan and Star Trek will
dominate..At least,these are the two mmorpg's I'll most
defently buy/pre-order.

Vanguard or Tabula Rasa is my guess.
You can't deny solid development know-how.
.........................................................
Addicted to MMO's since '98.
No point listing my game titles, classes & levels. Accomplishing anything in an MMO these days is so bloody common that nobody really gives a crap.
Im going with the game i see as having the most proven developers, and the economic backing. And the winner is:
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes
Age of Conan, Chronicles of Spellborn and... um... *cough*Wiki*cough*
