IF....they add some new things to the FPS genre. For example, in the Huxely Trailer we see characters using "advanced movements" like "bounding off of walls" and "acrobatic flips", etc.. If they actually plan to include this kind of control in the combat system, they may have a winner.
Other examples would be the "sliding" and "diving" in Ghost Recon: AW...(didnt care much for the game), or some of the melee moves in F.E.A.R. Those types of "extra" combat maneuvers add another layer of immersion and control, so you dont feel like your just w.a.s.d.'ing around aiming a crosshair.
These extra combat maneuvers are just an example of the "new direction" we need FPS's to take.
I do fear that Huxley will end up like....PlanetSide or something..with minimal exploration and minimal social stuff, tradeskills, etc.. I fear that it wont be a true Online World, but I certainly hope they prove me wrong.
Warhammer - the graphics are a blend of DAOC's detail and realism and WoW's youthful cartoon-technocolor, they'll build on DAOC's RvR superiority and steal WoW's new fangled gizmos and better general usability - all molded round the Warhammer pedigree. It's a nice combo whichever way you look at it.
I think the next big mmorpg will be tabula rasa. It will make everyone leave WoW and EQ2 because it will combine shooter action with the leveling of an rpg. PvP will be a blast and will breathe new life into mmorpg's and the stale point, click, and fight formula that some of us dread (i actually like it, but grinding gets annoying). No more cookie-cutter mmorpg. THe rise of a new genre will come. I have a dream that one day, that action fighters and mmorpg's will cooperate to make tactical real 3d fighting combat. Whatever has this will be big in my book. But im ok with whatever.
Personally I'm going to have to go with The Sage or Ryzom, it sounds like they have been improving the game to great success and I cant wait to be able to build my own wow type instances! Dark and Light has potentail but with so many bugs and mishaps in the game I think the devs. released it about 1 or 2 years too early. WoW was fun while it lasted but noone ever RPs on it even in the RP servers...
Based on what is coming this year I think wow will continue to be the largest MMO for the remaining of 2006 and 2007 because it is such a stable product compared to MMOS that are still revamping their systems and pushing their communities around. Right now Vanguard may be the only other contender as far as hype goes. Now if Eve online would put a ground game in....
I think that Warhammer Online will defeat World of Warcraft, but won't be the BIG. Maybe Tabula Rasa will be BIG in the futuristic category, but play with mmorpg's only for one and a half year maybe, so I'm new in that world, but we will see, what is BIG for us, gamers.
Originally posted by shogge yea i saw some screenshots of The Chronicles of Spellborn and that looks really nice, hopefully its better system than in WoW and then will Spellborn be next huge game.
Im with shogge the whole way, well atleast i hope it will happen. You cant tell atm can you. dont forget to check out the info about the second playable race. The Daevi.
The game ive seen the most hype about would probably be, TR - Tabula Rasa The game im most hyped about is, eXTeeL The game that will own them all is, Lineage 3

Its got the franchise history of being the largest MMO in existance, its run a now well oiled machine of a company. And quite frankly, there is yet to be a game that beats the character development of RO (stats and skill points coupled with cards).
the combat system allows you to control your swings directly in melee, and ranged combat is aimed. Finally, no more BS about pointing at the enemy and letting the game fight for you, finally a game where skill not who has the time and resources to spend on 8 hour raids makes the difference.

I think Age of Conan will be the next biggie. Even if it will not be geared towards all ages and simpletons I think it will pull a lot of people if it lives up to what is being planned. I do not even like Fantasy games (Sci-Fi fan) and I plan on playing this one. Mostly because it is a fresh take on things and has some new and innovative and what seems to be workable ideas for PvP w/o neglecting the other aspects of MMORPGs. Then again Matrix Online looked like it could do that and didn't so we'll see.

The next big mmorpg is:
Silkroad Online - Korean Version
in couple of thing sro is winning wow now, like graphics (which are better than wow)
but because now the sro global server is in "Old" version if u compare it to the korean version...
but infect,Silkroad online is at the 10 most played games in Xfire, before couple of month u couldn't even see it there now its at the 6-7th place.
and Silkroad online has score of 8.1 if it'll have 8.2 it'll pass guild wars(it passed WoW already)
I'm gonna say HUXLEY.........IF...
