Ever since WWII, China has been hating Japan. From what my lifeskills teacher said, Japan has never apologized for what they've done, so it's not entirely China's fault for holding the grudge.

Well, it's not and unknown news...MMO going against anti against one country maybe new...but the japanese have made games that have sparked koreans before too.
There's a War game (I forget the title) that describes Dokdo, a small island off the eastern coast of south korea, that ever since milleniums ago were claimed by koreans, which the japanese recently have been arguing that it is theirs with a name "Musashido" <---- not sure.
Anyways...they also have the koreans attacking japan without apparent reason in the game...
It's really a propaganda of some sort to bring some mal-informed influence on the general japanese population, and the koreans have been pissed off about this. It really isn't the only thing the koreans are pissed about to the japanese...not to mention every country in eastern asia practically hate japanese govt. they don't hate the people.
Anyways...The chinese and koreans...and even russians hate the japanese the most...For koreans the reason is pretty darn complicated. The two countries' history and relation goes back along time...and there's much propaganda. As for the chinese and russians, they didn't have that mush problem against the jpanese till WW2, since it was always the koreans fighting off japanese. History has shown that for centuries japan has wanted to invade the continent but the koreans fought them off each time at the penninsula until around early 20th century, when japan had been exposed to western cultures and technology for quite a while.
If you remember that town in china in the manchu region, where the town's people all died of some chemical they were exposed to from an underground experiment facility...well that facility was japanese. This isn't recorded history in international history, but Japanese during WW2 did experiments on War prisoners and captured civilians. This was called the "Maruta" and it is taught in korean, chinese, and alot of island nations in the eastern asian waters. The russians and chinese were especially more experimented on...and less koreans because korea was a nation the japanese wanted to colonize. The thing is...the japanese won't admit to the "Maruta" and all the propaganda they spread...so all asian nations are pretty much pissed about them.
Recently the japanese have been nationally modifying school textbooks with false history, according to almost all asian countires and this has sparked an issue because other nations see this as a japanese retreat to brain-wash the japanese population by exposing them to false history for generations.
The ironic thing about all this...My japanese friend's dad who is a graduate from Harvard University will admit to the "Maruta" experiments, and even all the false history the japanese government is inforcing. He told me there is a good number of good communities who are wanting to set things straight historically so that younger generation of japanese can be forgiven by other asian nations. But the problem is, the elitist community in japan will not admit to their past guilts, because they see it as a degration of japanese pride, and loss in international influence in the world community.
Another big problem is how all this has to do with the world economy. Most of you will wonder how this has to do anything with World economy...but it has everything to do with relations between countires.
For example, alot of well-educated elitist groups in the USA also know which is the real history and facts. Another ironic thing here is that eventhough the US knows alot fo what went on, they can't really say anything because from an economic stand-point they need to keep a good relation with Japan. But the problem also comes in here. The chinese are a fast growing people of great economic value by each passing day. The US also wants to keep a good relation with China. But the chinese just plainly hate the japanese...( I can understand that) So the US is just meddling around between them...and as for the moment, both japan and china know how important their economy is, and aren't stupid enough to spark something against each other. But anyday in the future, if something does start and the US has to side with one of them...it'll be a pain in the ass. As for China it's much too great a potential loss...but the japanese on the other hand...who economic value decline by the day suddenly cuts off all exports with the US... then there is no doubt the US will fall in chaos and turmoil...as for the japanese, it'll be the same except they have that "Hari" mind-set. (Personally speaking I thinkg that japanese propaganda about the japanese people with a "Hari" mind set is total bullshit...At least from all the japanese kids I've met they couldn't give a damn what happens to the japanese government.)
So here's the whole deal...as far as peace goes...All the japanese need to do is admit to their guilts like what the Germans did after WW2, and alot of this anmosity will be gone. But the fact is, alot of older nations have what they call "pride" (which I call durt-bag pride) and it's really hard for them to admit to their guilts. And for that reason I personally applaud the Germans.
But then again, this is really none of my business. I really could care less about what goes on. The truth is Great Empires/Nations come and go.
I mean by the time I'm dead and a thousand years have passed...then the USA we know now will probably not exist. If human history prospers as well as it has over the last century...then maybe by that time It may be some United Earth or something...if things go bad...then who knows...?
Like I said none my business...I'd be long gone by the time any of this argument and propaganda between nations are over. I will be DEAD.

Oh by the way...I'm korean. And I play japanese games...I read japanese manga...I'm totally manga-freak...and always probably will be. The point I'm trying to make here...Alot of koreans are like me. They buy in so many japanese goods to make only the japanese happy and complain about their propaganda. It' really stupid. Most people assume that IF there is a world war 3, and lets for the sake of this statement that there will be a world war 3, god forbid. Most people assume it will spark with America and X nation. This is more than likely not true. World War 3 will start in Asia. Without a doubt China will be in that equation somewhere.
And to whomever said all "real" asians are crazy. You are heavily missguided. Cultural and Historical differences do not make someone whom is different from you insane, or however you so thoughtfully put it. There are still open hostilities in the region sure. And racism abundant. Towards everyone. There are alot of problems with Japan being an elitist nation, there are some people in japan whom whole heartedly beleive that japan is the only place in the world with four seasons. Korea and China, most especially China have HUGE resentment towards japan for literal crimes against humanity that were commited unto them. Chemical agents, human science projects and so on. This atrocities also were performed on americans. Such as shooting POWs and having their medics practice removing bullets from live patients, or putting a human subject in a pressure chamber and seeing how much pressure the human body can withstand before their eyes pop out their head. These things DID happen. HOWEVER, in the present, just because there is open hostility and because there are extreme cultural differences between the east and the west, you CANNOT deem Asians as insane people. Christ, I have a friend from England who has told me that most english hate germans. Go figure. People dont seem to forget as easy as Americans, I guess that sometimes when one nation does horrible things, or tries to do horrible things, to another nation. The victims dont always forgive and forget.

LOL, that is not true. There is an impossible rivalry between the 2. If the Brits or the French say 1, the other will most certainly say 2. I dont see Frenchs and British killing each other anymore than they could kill their own citizens.

To top that, my ancestors where the Normands who never invade the little northen island(you know, those who remains in France, where invade by the French, then we move to Canada and where invade back by the Brits)...so who you wanna blame for the first conflict? The "history" brainwashed into US students is skewed toward how the US was totally responsible for winning WW2 and WW1 and the korea and vietnam "police actions" are just skiped over. Even iraq is being painted as a police action as a necessity to prevent sadam's possible future WMD projects (btw that were supplied by france [breader reactors,] germany [centrifuge,] russia/pakistan [tech experts to construct projects.]) Curious, is it not, that the countries that supplied those projects were the ones that so objected to the invasion of iraq !! ...the US as the 'world's policeman' can do no wrong.. small wonder the islamic dictatorships consider the west the arogant agressors supporting Israel, just to spite them.
From the time of the russian huns (gengis kahn, ect.) there has been long standing policy of mass extermination of asian (chineese, indian, near east [iran, arabia.]) So that area has some justification worrying about the west coming in and if the asians do not tow-the-line getting exterminated. mugengaia, you make some good points regarding relations between NE Asian nations. I've done a lot of study over this entire topic, and it's really pretty fascinating.
China, Korea, and Japan are all relatively nationalist countries. The culture of the region does lend itself well to such sentiment, although not in a good or bad way. Rather, it's simply a fact of life. It's not an absolute rule, but a group mentality of sorts. This is all my own observation here.
China and Korea both have plenty of reason to hate Japan, as was stated. However, Japan and China have exceptional problems due to certain modern circumstances. China's communist government needs to hold a strong nationalist viewpoint in order to maintain itself. Such is the nature of communism, especially with the younger generation. Young men especially, full of youth, vigor, and frustration, yearn to take their rage out on something. To them, Japan is a convenient "enemy", a nation that wronged them greatly in their grandfathers' time, in a culture where one's forefathers' actions are nearly as important as one's own.
The Japanese public is largely ignorant of the atrocities committed, in a futile attempt to save face by those who would rewrite history. To them, WW2 meant they got nuked. The US has apologized on numerous occasions for this, as well as spent considerable effort in assisting Japan's rebuilding, so hard feelings are pretty much put aside. The vast difference in culture leads to mutual interest in each other.
However, the Japanese government isn't helping matters much. Japan has been led by the same party for fifty years, although Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi is known as a reformist. However, this dominance means that Koizumi's words and actions speak very loud indeed. Especially his visits to the Yasukuni Shrine. Why is this a big deal? There are war criminals buried at Yasukuni, officers who helped perpetrate the atrocities in China. For a Western viewpoint, imagine Angela Merkel, the new Chancellor of Germany, visitng prominent Nazi graves to pay her respects.
There's lots of subtle nuances difficult to perceive in Chinese, Korean, and Japanese cultures. While most of it is Westernizing to an extent, there remains at least some perception that the deeds of one's fathers are important, saving face is important, and with religious conflict being far less prevalent, nationalist group identity seems to take better hold.
So, back to the primary topic. Why would China officially promote such strong anti-Japanese sentiment? It's convenient for the government, primarily. Communism needs an external enemy to stay afloat, and there's not exactly much love lost with Japan in the first place. The people want this as well. Gamers are primarily young men, the same sort who are most prone to enthusiastic backing of the official party. Finally, the current times. It's tough to really understand how much anger Koizumi's shrine visits provoke.
France and Britain may have a long history of conflict, but it's simmered down to habitual trash-talk. You won't see the fanatical hatred and the action to back it up. Neither country has issued warnings to their nationals in the other country to fear for their lives.
I haven't seen this sort of fanaticism outside of religion. If I were a few decades older, I might be able to compare it to racism in the US at one point. It's really a very sad situation, and a pity that both sides are far too stubborn and entrenched to do much about it.
Funny story though, my college in the US has a large number of Japanese international students. Huge numbers of these students study Chinese. Sure, it's because the hanzi/kanji similarities make it so much easier, but the nationalist gap seems to really be overcome by international experience.

There's a reason why japan hasn't admit to their past inhumane actions. That is, as you've said, the older dominant party has too great of influence.
But in this sense, I'm not going to say much. As I am a korean and I'm not much proud of my government any better than the japanese.
For one thing, alot of Asian countries (actually all) have a set standard in a major political party.
It really doesn't matter who becomes president even in korea. For one thing, due to the fact that previous political party holds so much power in their hands that it's almost impossible to reform.
The way I've heard it with the better-educated group of japanese people. They're still trying to convince the japanese government to admit their past faults. But because the older generation of political leaders have so much power, no new face can stand alone and make a statement.
This goes the same for korea. The current president suggested they'd (politicians) renounce themselves from ripping off of the national budget, but no~ the other leaders had to humiliate the current president, by making an issue out of this academic absense (no College Degree).
What does this all means? It means the older generation that is corrupted continue on their saga by placing either their sons or someone in close relation. Or even the newer reformists eventually become corrupted by the current one.
It has been a repitition of this cycle over and over again for centuries in most asian countries...

Politics is a power game, nobody wants to relinquish their seat. America's greatest advantages in politics are a handful of brilliant founders and a wide mix of races, religions, cultures, and ideologies. Sadly, the "melting pot" has had issues of late with isolation and lack of mixing. Still, there was a time when the Irish weren't considered "white", and thought of as a distinctly inferior race. Hardly the issue by now. Change will come, albeit slowly.
Asian nations are subject to the same. The culture and mindset slows change down, but change happens nonetheless. It's tough to break into the upper echelons of society, it always has been in any culture. It can be done though, and that was absolutely unheard of at one point.
Sadly, I fear the Japanese government will never muster a true apology for their atrocities. Those who were alive during the time are old. Those old enough to have participated are retired and dying out. A future generation may wish to make amends, but it won't quite be the same. They weren't there.
There's plenty of corruption in America, Japan, and Korea. There are still the mavericks, those who respect the wishes of the people. Change comes slowly, and sometimes we lose a step or two. It's easy to become discouraged. It's a tireless struggle that we must endure to make things better.
I can't say I support Bush's actions in "liberating" nations, and there's really little else I can say on the matter. Hopefully, we will be forgiven for our bout of national insanity.
As for your perceptions of the Jewish people, that's where I disagree firmly. The original situation was that in the Old Testament, usury (lending with interest) was forbidden. However, it was only forbidden for Jews to take interest from Jews, or from Christians to take interest from Christians. The Jewish people in Europe started banking as we know it, willing to charge interest to Christians. This helped spur advancement and prosperity, although there was resentment at the Jews for becoming rich off work that had no visible productivity. This resentment has lasted a very long time.
The issues in the Middle East are not just around Israel. There is a strong Dominionist faction within America. Christians who believe it is their destiny to take governmental control, and assist in bringing forth the Rapture. Holy sites in Israel are vital to this. Many Dominionists hope that the Jewish people will accept Jesus upon his return, and so they assist Israel unquestioningly against the Arab peoples. There is Jewish influence for the protection of Israel, but it would go nowhere without the assistance of fundamentalist Christians with similar goals.
Only recently has a Dominionist regime come to such complete power in the US. We are far from a theocracy, but the desire to impose religious values remains unsettling.
America is certainly not perfect. However, we've done quite well for a very long time. There's still hope that we can do a lot of good. Democracy is inherently flawed, too much leeway for idiots and the corrupt. Still, communism is hopelessly idealistic, and the perverted system claimed to be communism today is corrupt beyond measure.
There's a lot of crap going on in Korea, you're very right about that. Still, Korea has made great strides towards a better government for the people. There's just so very much more left to do, and it can be very discouraging. People can be amazingly stubborn, but they're mortal. The old guard will die out, and the corruption of the new class can only go so far. New ideas will surface, and the world will prod everyone at times.
