One Year later ....

It has been 1 year since EA killed Earth and Beyond. I was wondering what all the refugees migrated to or how many are still waiting for a comeback.

p.s. Boycott EA !!

EH!! Wrong, what did is not just 'come over' but they had to send over their cd-key and cd's to EVE (not xerox'ed, actual things) where they'd process them and keep them while giving them like a 30 day trial (or so, not sure).. not worth it imho if you lose the things you paid for.

And no, I don't play either nor have I it's just from what I read at the time E&B shut down.

Earth and Beyond may have been solid but it was doomed to fail from day 1. Everything BUT the game play was unbelievable. The game-play was less than average and so the game failed. I didn't miss it when I quit a couple of weeks after launch and I certainly don't miss it now.

Also had it been any other company then EA they might have tried a little bit more to breath some life into it and not dump it at the first quarterly that showed red numbers.

Um... before you EVE lovers bash E&B... before E&B was cancelled EVE and E&B had roughly the same subscriber base (right around 35,000 players) and were out within mere months of one another.

EVE didn't see a big jump in numbers till all the E&B players moved to EVE because their game had been cancelled.

Frankly I'm surprised they did. The games were vastly different. About the only similarity was the godawful travel time. (except for E&B's "explorer" classes, they had jump ability).

If any company other than EA had been running it, E&B would have done much better than it did. And probably would have survived rather than winding up cancelled.

There are currently a couple of pirat E&B servers out there but I can't tell you anything about them. Mainly because I came across them about three monthes ago. And to a lesser degree, it's verboten to post pirate servers on this board regardless of wether the game is dead or not.

Yup... if you dig hard enough on the 'net you can find pirated versions of just about any MMO out there.
