Personally, I own 2 bows, one heavy for big game, one light for small game, a sword and a lotta knives. No one weapon can do it all. I prefer to shoot them with a bow, they keep coming, I whip out the sword, then if they disarm me I pull out two knives. BTW it rarely gets past the arrow... hehe

melee versus ranged weapon: as said before both have their purposes in battle
personally I perfer operating a character that is a stealthfull, fast, and cunning person with a ranged weapon as his perfered means of combat. So the bow gets my vote!
A master of the bow AND blade survives the longest.
He/she can hit enemies from a great distance and arrows can pierce through plate armor at up to 30 metres range. If someone should escape your missiles you finish them off with your blade.
Bows dude....... bows are awsome ....you can sit back and attack the enemy when your party is attacking in the front line ..... hee hee.... but i like swords too
I am a bowman from way back and will rely more on my bow as that will not only let me keep distance but draw teh attention of a critter out of a croud without angering all the ones I dont hit. Now on the occasion I cannot keep distance then a sword is a great backup wepon.
I discovered the beauty of bowmanship when I first played Champions of Norrath...Being able to add element damage to your bows and arrows was uber-kool...think composite bow that is literally on fire. The arrows you shoot are thus fire arrows. Or you add lightning element to your bow and little jolts flow off of it; thus the arrows shock the bad guy whenever you shoot him or her.
Coolest thing about Champions is that all the arrows you hit the monster with stayed inside the monster even after they died.

I like the sword myself.
It is great for beheading your oponents.
I like the bow , myself.
With the bow you can deal a lot of damage before the monster can get close.
Both! I think that's it's a shame many games make you pick one or the other. Why not both?!

id have to say a sword because i always prefer the close combat and a sword does the job perfectly.
Both
You use the bow until the enemi gets close then use your sword.

I would go for sword, It makes the character looks strong and fearless
I love sword to sword combat
A bow is nice, but disadvantage is that you can run out of arrows, no.. you don't want that to happen
