WoW character control, Shadowbane's Dynamic player controlled worlds, EVE's Awesome Developer's and RPK punishment, Asheron's Call's Arcade like gameplay, SWG's Character Customization.
Add these with Morrowinds Lore... and I think I'd build myself a hovel with internet access and never leave... except to pickup the pizza.
Honestly though, like myself, How many of you see so many games that have so much potential to be THE game for you... But lack in what another game has...

Heres my dream mmo
Morrowind exploration
Star Wars Galaxies Landscape
Wolrd of Warcrafts citys, mail system and auction house
Dark Ages of Camelots RvR
Shadowbanes Class Customization, city development + free for all consequences
All of those games on there own lacked alot imo. Together though---One very solid mmo.
WoW's pvp is bleh, limited amount of classes, limited amount of class customization but it excelled rather well in other areas.
DAOC had great pvp but there wasnt in much in the way of exploration.
I cant call what Morrowind had pvp--even if it had been multiplayer.
Shadowbane had decent pvp, great city politics but very little in the way of exploration.
Star wars galaxies also lacked in many different areas but had some really interesting looking scenery. The fact that you could just take off on a speeder and get lost was great.
Guild Wars' skills/attributes/level system.
EQII's graphics and interface.
WoW's storyline/lore and quests (don't know why people rag WoW's quests...best thing in the game IMHO...as long as you don't make the mistake of doing them over again with a new char).
They're the big 3 at the moment (at least for the paying crowd)...and they're that for a reason! However there are many games on the horizon that should improve on all 3 of these areas. Chronicles of Spellborn seems like it will have a great story and quests. DDO will hopefully be a good skills/lvl system AND improve the gameplay/control aspect of MMOs too. While some of the more expansive MMOs coming up (like D&L and The Chronicle) may get us to where a persistent world will deliver more of the WORLD and less of the persistant (think varied rather than static).
Guess I'm just lucky then. My dream MMO is...EVE.
DAoC was everything I needed for over two years.
Now I would ask for
DAoC's PvP (RvR) system with,
CoH's PvE and character creation with,
EQ2's graphics and quests.
If someone could do that and infuse it with the sheer entertainment and fun I get from playing WoW, then I would subscribe by the year rather than by the month
I would probably have to say:-
AC1's PvE and exploration - excellent combat system, huge map and loads of quests
Planetside's PvP system - player skills are more important than character level
SWG's character creation/customisation and skills system - the character creation choices are just amazing and you can still change your looks afterwards. Also theres loads of different player crafted clothing and armor.
EQ2/Guild Wars graphics and sound
Shadowbane's player controlled cities
It'd be great to see a MMO with all the great qualities from other MMOs combined...but the fact is, it ain't gonna happen anytime soon. Or maybe never.
You have to remember companies can sue each other. If one company makes a game that resembles a system similar to another they can get sued...
Just like what happend with Netscape and Microsoft over Microsoft's Internet Explorer years back.
Just because this is game industry doesn't mean the law is any different.
The reason why it's so difficult to infuse different systems and interfaces from different games into one is copyright issues.
So game companies always have to find a loop-hole to create a similar system to another game yet, have something eligible to prove it's unique.
The problem this creates. By the time a game company develops something similar, that wouldn't spark legal issues, there's usually another game out with another concept.
Happnes to be that, there will always be something new, and that's why no matter a next-gen MMO or not, it won't have all the ingredients to please every MMORPGer.
GRIND sucks? You wanna be max level in a month?
Since when did society award easy-goers and lazy-fools?
MAKES ME PHOBIC OF STUPIDITY!

I've thought about this for a while now. For me it would have to be the following.
1. Dark Age of Camelots world setup. I love the different realm idea and how different things are if you actually pick another race.
2. Star Wars Galaxies character creation/class and skill system.
3. Final Fantasy XI cutscenes and story telling method
4. Anarchy Online and Everquest: Lost Dungeons of Norrath's mission and instance system
5. Shadowbane's city building and political system
6. Dark Age of Camelots Realm vs. Realm system
7. World of Warcraft's graphics and travel system (tram, griffon, airship)
Not in any certain order mind you. I think that could end up being THE mmorpg I've been looking for.
