ESA (E3) says no to booth who... erm, girls

shaeshae Member Posts: 2,509

ESA has started handing out the word that at this years E3 gaming expo the booth girls are going to have to cover up, I'm sure much to the chagrin of many a boy gamer. You can read the news here:

http://www.thetechzone.com/?m=show&id=491

Personally I think the guys at TTZ are more then a little pathetic making such a big deal out of this, heaven forbid they miss out on a little t&a to drop hours on photographing at a gaming expo. As for the actual issue, I'm split kinda down the middle about the whole thing.

On the one side, that crazed feministic side of me thinks it's about time, sure most guys like it and even lots of girls have no issue with the barely there clothing but I mean... you can have pretty girls at your booth without having them nearly naked with their well... everything hanging out. This half also thinks that this kinda stuff really keeps alot of younger females at bay, it being a constant reminder of how much the gaming industry is rule by testostorone.

On the other side, my less crazed half just thinks, WHO CARES !!! It's pretty girls making boys go gaga, nothing new there, sure it's sleazy and dirty but that's what gets everyone's attention right ? And no one is forcing them to be there, I'm sure the girls make some decent coin while there at it, and who is it really hurting in the end ?

So like said, I'm split over it. What do you all think ? Good move or bad ?

That's stupid, If roughly everyone there are guys, they are going to want to see booth babes there. This will crush the gaming industry, and E3 will turn into a huge pastey-faced sausage fest.

How sweet. In your quote you said you like my sig. image  Now back to the point: Isn't that kind of stupid. I mean you do have to be over 18 to even go inside E3 not only that you have to be invited. This really sucks, well actually, it depends. As long as they are showing some legs and a belly/stomach/abs I'm cool with it. I would look at the beauty in the face. I wish I could go, I can get all those girls and have all the geeks just watch my G.A.M.E. (I'm not lying). I did it at an anime convention....I still forgot to show you guys (and gals) the pictures. Me and Vash the Stampede were the only to guys getting numbersimage

Anyway back on topic, I will be mad if they want them to cover up their legs and can't wear mini skirts, or skirts at that, because there would be almost no creativity shown and that is what counts, creativity and costume design.

If they plan on covering up something like THIS or THIS then there is an issue. Sometimes I just don't understand some people and what they are dealing with.

I do admit though I think the most skin ever shown had to be the RYL booth. They are to blame.image

    (hot though)

Jackie Chiles really need to check out the Race Shows and Expo first. They got the booty contest too. image Didn't the Japanese start this trend with the race queens first? Then there was models?

I might have to edit this...needs a proof read.

    EDIT

I believe this is a rumor. It takes more than some lawyer to stop E3.

I, like the OP am split on this too...  Never been to E3, don't really have a desire to see it either tbh...  For me though, a scantily dressed woman speaks volume, there is no mystery anymore...  WYSIWYG as far as the body goes, and it already speaks volumes for them mentally too...  I ask, "Are you at a stage in your life where the only thing that defines you are your tits and ass?"...  Strippers, along with these E3 ladies have major mental issues...  So to me, it is a turn off...  I would rather see a somewhat dressed woman, and let my imagination run wild with what is underneath those clothes...  I like it when my wife dresses somewhat trampy, but nothing to the effect of a two piece bikini or anything like that, that is for the private bedroom time...

Is it getting hot in here?

    It's bad:

For the perverted loosers that what to see a almost naked woman irl.

    It's good:

For women rights. Somehow noone expects men to dress like that @ E3.

I could care less myself. I watch e3 for the games, not models. If I wanted to see models I would look at a porn site or something.

The only reason anyone should care is because it is becomming a tradition.

wow if the most skin you have ever seen is at that booth you havent had a crazy girlfriend(funny story but not appropiate for the forums) like i had 2 years ago.

but the Booth babes at gaming conventions aren't as terrible as racial stereotypes in games.....

i would much rather see that issue addressed then them removing playful eye candy.

I had a crazy girlfriend once. I'm just talking about at E3. I wouldn't care much for girls at E3 as the others said. I may never go to E3 but if I do and I see them i'll deal with it.

Now that I thought about it, I would probably break my way threw hordes of hot models to get a glimps at awsomeness of gaming at E3. But that is me: A guy who likes games more than the opposite sex. (and technology more too)

  • gargantroogargantroo Member Posts: 1,477

I personally think its hot ::::22::

Not only the showign of skin but they dress like videogame girls so...

    its hot IMO

psht before everyone makes fun of me let me point out that looking at hentai or thinking an animated girl is hot is much more unusual!!

But thats not the only reason I watch E3 :D

i play on australian servers because racism is acceptable there

So . . . humm. What about an opposite sex that likes games more than the opposite sex?

I don't think you all understand. Gaming companies are rewarding the guys that come to the show, as anyone that attends E3 that is male and not there to work has never seen a woman that pretty before, except naked on a porn site.

I'm not even going to say one way or another on the decency issues... however, I'm going to comment on how inconsistant these people are.

We somehow shun boothbabes at a conference that is invite-only and is 18+ (the same requirements for most adult film expos), yet this issue arrises before car expo models. At least at E3, the girls are dressed as quasi-characters or even the characters themselves in the games. Car expo models serve no other purpose to arrouse "interest." Also, most car expos (at least the local ones here in little ol' western Michigan), you can be of any age to attend. To me, this is one of those situations when I have to take a step back and say, "huh?" And in fact, if you've seen any of the girls from more popular car expos, they are technically "nude" (meaning, if they were on cable TV, you would have to mosaic certain areas). They show, on average, far more skin than E3.

Yeah... anyone ever been to like HIN (hot import nights) or other similar car shows? all ages, (Well, i assume so, me and my friends weren't carded or anything), and the models there were wearing next to nothing (like a beach in miami during spring break).

I personally think this is absurd, like someone said, it's 18+ and all that, and the models themselves are probably making quite a bit of money. Companies have been using essentially sex to sell products for years, and still do, no more than ever. Odd time for people to suddenly develop moral values ::::01::

I also tend to disagree with the person that stated models have mental issues or whatever- i have a friend who models, and i can have intelligent conversations with her about my physics and calculus classes.

    lol
You think it's the women that sat down and though properly about it, and found out that bikini was the ultimate outfit they would wear?
