Worth buying FF XI?

I look at alot of posts here seems like both sides have good and bad reasons about the game but im wondering if i should buy it. Because the price in american is 12.95 here in Canadian its 20$. Thats whats turning me off towards this game. Well post what you think about my post and tell me if i should or should not buy the game.

I strongly do not recommend this game.  Nothing that hasn't been done before much better.  Not much more to say, other than it is a lame EQ clone.

mallarky, play the game before talking shit about it. FFXI is just cool, maybe you're just not made for great games?

Ok fanboi, I did play it for first month of release, and had a level 35 monk on the Midgardsomr server.  I have played many mmorpgs so I have others to cpompare it to and I don't feel this game offers anything.

What game would I recommend?  DAoC is good, has PvE and PvP with a ton of content, or you could wait for EQ2 which should be coming out in Feb.  Verant would have to be retarted to mess that game up.

Hasn't VI been kicked out a few years ago? SOE is in charge of EQ now, not Verant.

Anyway, people have different opinions. Most people who've played other games like EQ say that it is the worst game ever made. I've been playing for about a month now, and it's been great. Hell, even my brother is starting to like this game--he's been in the high-end of EQ for years now, there's pretty much nothing to do there anymore.

ive choosen a different game in my experience i like better as to be my first mmorpg is SWG. Because i have friends who play that game and can help me out to start with thxs guys for taking your time to post.

 The only reason people dont like EQ is because it's been out for years.

 FFXI won't last 2 years let alone 4 or 5.

Ick. I played SWG for 2 months.. I had fun for about 2 weeks of that. That is when I ran out of content. SOE is to busy Nurfing working professions and repairing the horribly broken ones to put much time in to anything than repetitive cookie cutter missions.

Its supposed to be Star Wars but the only thing that works is the damn Creature pets, they kill the droid engineers early on by nurfing the only useful droid they could make.

until they get all the features in, and the nurf / bug fixing evens out a little the game is going to hard for many people to enjoy.

Lazybones its gonna be hard for ppl without other ppl helping them out but im gonna have friends who are gonna be helping me out. And the game looks good to me. You problobly had a bad experience in the game but to me its something new.

So i choose the game i wanna play and see if i like it and if i dont which wont happen. I quit d2x because of hackers and hacked items got bored of that crap. This is gonna be a hack free envirement besides the exploits(which i dont care about).

Well to me it looks like a great game have fun in FF XI once its out of the beta's il start playing it. Well good luck to all you FF fans with FF XI. I hope you have a good experience with the game and not a bad experience.

I joined the game with my group of friends and clan members. We all quit after 2 months.

You will probably find it fun for about a month then the enjoyment will proably drop off.

We where all a mix of professions, and all left the game do to a lack of things to do.

I was just posting a warning about my experiance with the game. The engine is very cool.

You may find it boring because you quit while the game was just getting started now they have citys you can build with your friends and stuff.
