So seems to me the average price around the web is about $20 not $10. Not really all that low for a 4+ year old game if you ask me, and considering our SRP (Suggested Retail Price) is apparently $40 it doesn't appear that the low price has anything to do with "Mythic giving up on the game" as you claim but rather stores just selling their copies for cheaper than the suggested price. Considering everything in the Epic Edition box is available for download online it's not altogether surprising they're not moving as many as they may have anticipated when placing their preorders.

Trolls don't tend to like blatant facts for a diet, its kinda like poison to them and tends to run them off. They'll argue all day long as long as you're talking opinions and such, throw some undeniable facts in their face though and its like throwing holy water on a vampire.

Pretty sure someone out there is already sitting on the White Wolf license... Whether or not they're doing anything with it is another story. I mean look how many years MGS (Micro$oft Game Studios, not Metal Gear Solid :P) has been sitting on the Shadowrun lisence promising to one day make an MMO out of it... Many years now.
Richard J. Cox "There were much of the beautiful, much of the wanton, much of the bizarre, something of the terrible, and not a little of that which might have excited disgust."
I did not know they was any plan for a Shadowrun MMO. I knew they had a lot of licenses such as Crimson Skies, but didn't know that. Of course it sounds like it is vaporware anyway
Yeah, I wouldn't go so far as to call it a plan really. They're sitting on the lisence and have mentioned doing something with it, just often enough so that people don't give up hope completely I guess.
Richard J. Cox "There were much of the beautiful, much of the wanton, much of the bizarre, something of the terrible, and not a little of that which might have excited disgust."
Seems to me the lower the cost of starting an MMO that's over a year old, the better - when someone thinks of trying an MMO, or coming back to one, they're going to go with a new game, unless the old is a lot cheaper. Doesn't most of a longstanding MMO's revenue come from subscription fees? Unless I'm mistaken, they should be practically giving the software away, including expansions (with the 14-day trial, or even 7-day) so people will try it, without fear of wasting money. Then make thier money on those that like it enough to subscribe.
Some MMOs might have to charge for the box, because they're terrible, and so many would try the game, and never pay for a subscription, but I don't think DAOC is one of those games at all. I could be wrong, but I think they'd make much more money in the long run, and it'd help keep the game thriving, which would also help Mythic's reputation.
As for the trollish OP, well yeah, I'm personally looking forward to WAR, but it's a ways off
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
Actually you can get the original game and the first 2 expansions for free with the Trial (14 days). The last 2 trials can be purchased online and downloaded. As new expansions are released (each fall) we tend to make the oldest expansion free. When Catacombs was released SI was made free, when Darkness Rising was released we added Trials of Atlantis to the trial for free, etc.
Richard J. Cox "There were much of the beautiful, much of the wanton, much of the bizarre, something of the terrible, and not a little of that which might have excited disgust."
As an old subscriber thinking of coming back (who already has everything but DR), I know that's the case, but wouldn't a new player have to buy the game, to keep playing after the 14 days? Or would they only need to subscribe? Epic bundle or Catacombs +Darkness Rising +subscription = just about as much as buying a much newer game?
In my case though, I'd want to buy DR and activate my old account, so immediately need to pay for a subscription - that's $35, which considering all my options of newer games to play that I haven't already played into the ground, I'm not sure about. Seems more discouraging than it could be. Maybe a "Come back to Camelot" offer which included DR and one month for $20 would make more sense?
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
After the 14 days are up you don't pay for the software, you just pay your first month subscription fee and go from there. You can pick up the Epic Edition in most stores these days for $20 which is the same price as JUST downloading DR. If you start with the trial then add the Epic Edition to it then you get everything released for the game to date and 44 days free for $20.
Richard J. Cox "There were much of the beautiful, much of the wanton, much of the bizarre, something of the terrible, and not a little of that which might have excited disgust."
If you wanted the free days you'd have to start a new one, the 30 days free (and the 14 free days with the trial) are for new accounts. But you could but the Epic Edition for $20, install it, put in your info and reactivate your old account.

LOL, u are funny! but u make a good point, I am new to Daoc almost a month into it and it looks alive to me. I thought 20$ was a great deal for the epic and the fact u come on other forums and defend your name makes me respect Mythic alot more. It realy does sound like the OP has never played the game.
So if i download the trial i have the original plus the 2 expansions? for free right? Can anyone tell me how much does the other 2 expansions cost? my browser seem to have a problem with the mythic website. I'm thinking of going on the US servers since the EU have such a poor cutomer support.

If you download them through the client and purchase them that way then you can get both for $30. If you go buy the Epic Edition you can find that in most places for $20 and it has everything released to date included. That would be your better bet by far if you're going to be starting over on the US servers because you'll get the free days. Counting the free trial and the Epic Edition you would have 44 days total for free.

So if you get the trial and play for 14 days and then input the code from the Epic edition to start a new account. Will you be able to use the same account name and characters from your trial or will you have to re roll everything in order to use the 30 days free? I was just curious.

As long as you input the code from the Epic Edition before your free trial runs out you will be able to use your same account name/characters and get the 30 days free from the Epic Edition, also.
If you install the Epic Edition after your free trial runs out you can still use your same account name/characters but you will have to call Mythic to get your 30 days free.
As long as you do it before your 14 days are up you can continue on with your same account. If your 14 days expire though you can call Billing Support and they can add it in for you so you still get the 30 days free.
