thinking of picking up DAC??

I've never played any mmorpg's before and would like to get in on the fun. Is DAC worth it? Do I need all the expansion packs before playing? Any help or advice you can give me is appreciated.

DAOC may be the best MMORPG out... at the moment.  Just wait and watch the next two or three months.

DAoC is one of the best out there right now.  For PVP it is the best if you liike it sometimes but not always.  The future of the game as i see it is the new frontiers expansion.  We will see how it goes

I wouldnt necessarily say that, yes it had alot of bugs when it first came out but most of the problem is that ppl did not understand some aspects of it and some ppl do not have the patience for it.  It is a great expansion.  Many great things have come from it.  It will and has totally changed the experience of the game.  But since the TOA release i have seen many many more long lasting and more interesting battles in rvr.  It threw a new twist on thigs that some ppl just werent ready for but most ppl have accepted and almost all now like.

Basicely DAOC has reached its peak. It is pretty much bugless and has polished all the tarnish off. It also probably won't get many more players. When TOA came out around, merlin's population increased by 500. At any given time their were always 500 more people than their would have been a month before TOA's release. That doesnt count peak days like saturday and friday whent he servers REALLY shot up. Too bad they were all albs.::;^`:: Start DAOC. You won't regret it. I didn't regret playing it and not many other people will regret playing it either.:::^)::

At the urging of a friend, I recently returned to DAoC and have been having a great time.  I have not bought TOA, so I can't really comment on it, but the DAoC Gold package (incl. DAoC Classic, Shrouded Isles and Foundations) is a great game at a great price.  You can get it for under $20.

Will DAOC work on my WinXP

  • KoltraneKoltrane Member UncommonPosts: 1,049
Foundations is a free upgrade.  It comes in the Gold pack or you can download it.  DAoC does work on Windows XP.

Can anyone help me. I can't find the gold version of DAOC. I can find DAOC and SI differently but not the gold edition. I actually live in New Zealnd so if anyone can find a place that ships internationally and has the gold edition plaease tell me. Also what am I missing out on if I buy the game seperately and not the gold edition.

I have been playing DAoC for 2 years now and i feel it is well worth thie time and effort i have put into my characters. Mythic is constantly adding and fixing problems and seems to listen to the gamers concerns and ideas. They offer a wide variety of servers to choose from , Role playing, normal. and PvP servers.  Give it a try and i guarntee u will be hooked.image

I agree-- wait.  there are so many betas and new games being released in the next few months, and you will want to invest the time and develop your character..no sense getting one you are not sure about..NWN is good and Horizons is alright as RPGs go.  the most diverse and sophistocated role playing and guild interfacing option out there (well, beta is coming soon...)will be Ultima X: Odyssey.  The devs completely revamped the concept of learning abilities and achieving virtue points...
