If these people are saying what they can do and it is all true. WoW is going to suffer a horrible death under the blade of Guild Wars. It's technology and graphics blow away anything WoW could ever come up with. But WoW does have a world and name brand so I am waiting to see.
WoW might be funner to play but I do have to admit. I'm scared the screen shots and no monthly fee make this game look amazing.
MMORPG's are going to change.

Yeap. I won't save my words. Here it goes.
I have feeling that when Guild Wars finally arrives to the mass market, it will come with thousands thunders of judgement. Then people will really know who the real Blizzard brothers were.
You said personally. I say nah... for every reasonable souls who understand the meaning of good game design.

lmao.. u guys are wrong.. firstly.. no subscription fees may lead to many expansion packs that may cost 40-50 USD... and they may be a must to have em to play the game..
secondly.. i seriously think guild wars is lacking of some contents.. its just a game where u PvP? .. no sense :P ..
but.. i'd probably read reviews.. most likely guild wars if my mum won lend me her cc.. WoW if i have a cc :P..
to ppl without cc(like me), i think they'd prefer guildwars

ParaTrooper, That guy that used to mod the MMORPG.com forums.
Right chap, time to introduce you to cruel reality. I am an alpha tester at arena.net and am currently playtesting GW. Its far from done, but the following I CAN tell you:
I doubt that the GW xpac's will cost 40-50 dollars each, but if they do, then so be it. Its either that or a monthly fee. Everquest lets you pay monthly fee and IIRC the xpacs for that werent exactly cheap either now were they?
GW DOES have more to offer than PvP. Currently there's about 30-40 mission areas, and the game is far from done. These are for questing in the storyline, not for bashing each others heads in. The storyline looks very nice and is being written by Less Lebow, the guy who wrote the soty for BG 1 and 2 and some other games too. He's a world class writer if you ask me.

Looking at your screen name it's pretty obvious you're here fishing for a reaction ... but I'll bite anyway, because you are going to look a total fool once I'm finished .
The latest (in PC Gamer magazine) news on expansions is that they will be released every 6-9 months. ArenaNet have also stated, on multiple occasions, that you will still be able to play with people who have the expansions even though you don't. There won't be any exclusion/segregation based on whether you buy (or don't buy) expansions. If you don't buy the expansions ... then you'll be stuck watching your buddies using the cool new stuff. But that's as bad as it gets.
Barry already answered re: the game content, which is growing on a daily basis. I'll just correct him on one fact, however: the game currently features in excess of 60 quest zones. The content in the game is growing on a daily basis, and ArenaNet are doing amazing things to support the fan community that is forming, including allowing alpha testers to discuss the game as it is evolving.
I have feeling that you guys gonna make a history with this title.

I don't get into the whole Guild Wars versus WoW discussions because the whole thing seems sort of unnecessary. I'm sure WoW will be a good game, and that there will be a lot of people who play it and enjoy it a lot. There is always room in the world for good games, after all.
What I wanted to say, however, applies to any pay-to-play game. The question is: Would you prefer to pay $10-$20 a month for the privilege of playing the same game over and over again? Or would you rather pay the reasonable cost of an expansion pack for a new game that involves the continuation of your story with entirely new content? When I was paying MMORPG's, I always felt like I was "renting" the game. With Guild Wars, you own it. If you want to add to the experience you can get the expansion pack. If you don't choose to pay for an expansion pack, you're still just fine and can continue to pay. On the other hand, if you decide you don't choose to pay for the pay-to-plays, you're gone.

Well, I just found out about this Guild Wars, so I am going to have to head over to their site to check this game out. No subscription fees will be great, no doubt. However, I am still more stoked about WoW just because I love WarCraft and I like what Blizzard is doing with the project so far. There are rumblings on the net that WoW will still ship in June before Guild Wars...but that is just a rumor and none of us know that for sure (unless you work for Bliz). I don't really see an advantage either way for whoever ships first. Tons of people will play WoW and many will play Guild Wars. I am sure that both games will be very good!
My sleeper pick for a hit and contender (and Yordo will probably agree with this) is City of Heros. That game just looks plain fun!

*blush* Yes, that's right. Play. P-l-a-y. The very essense of having fun, as opposed to debiting the checkbook for monthly fees, which is to p-a-y, which Guild Wars won't be asking you to do.
Thanks for catching that, Civil!

Big Baller
Im looking forward to a mmorpg that does away with downtime, hopefully guild wars acomplishes this. Im sick of all the EQ clone crap.
Well i am not to amazed by Warcraft online. Personaly i dont think if provides much new content, so this battle is going to Guild Wars.
If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.
