Discrimination?

Just wondering where the majority of mmorpg.com's members live.

I live in England, and to be honest im not happy with the way games are released in Asia, then the US, and there are few companies who would want or even think about releasing games or putting up servers for the european gaming community.

Why cant companies see that europeans love gaming as much as anyone else.

I want a server here! I want it now!

It has nothing to do with discrimination, it has everything to do with legalism, logistics and local markets.

Ummmmmm, discrimination? I think not. Its all about business. They hit the most promising markets first. Korea, North America, Europe.

Its about business. Its about money.

It has nothing to do with discrimination.

I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

I agree with the two above mentioned things.  It would only be dicrimination if someone said "I dont want to release games to europe because I hate europeans and they smell funny"

LOL, none of you seem to have  sense of humour.....

Im not trying to be serious...I know the logistics of why companies do what they do.

You lot need to loosen up abit. Enjoy the friendly banta. The whole topic was designed to be a way for me to :

1 - Kill time at college

2 - Spark friendly banta between europeans and everyone else

    Hehehe

    "discrimination"

    1. The act of discriminating.
    2. The ability or power to see or make fine distinctions; discernment.
    3. Treatment or consideration based on class or category rather than individual merit; partiality or prejudice: racial discrimination; discrimination against foreigners.

Whatever the reason it still can be called discrimination, you can be discrimined becouse you live in less economically interesting country or continent. We can easly say that Europe is being discrimined.

And besides, like it or not, people do try to "win" massively multiplayer RPGs. The rules of engagement are something like this:
    * If there is a status bar, make it grow bigger
    * If there is a number, make it higher
    * If it moves, either get a mission from it or kill it

Seeing how Europe is about to enter an ice age, it woul dbe a waste of money to put a server on your side of the pond...

when people talk about asia mmorpgs.. i think they refer to korean mmorpgs.. so don mix up asia with korea..

I worse off than US ppl although i live in asia, i have a super com.. but i have no cc to pay for monthly fees..all i need is a good beta.. but mostly they just pick US people.. koreans have their own mmorpgs.. but some parts of asia don.. especially Singapore image.. it sucks alot..

I honestly see this thread as pointless. North America is a larger market for companies. It is also where many of them are based. So hows it discrimination if a company makes a smart business decision?

  • MalkavianMalkavian Member UncommonPosts: 2,995

I think the originator of this thread was approaching the subject of marketing from a humourous side.
Of which has already been proven:

It’s also be noted that discrimination is not the major factor for lack of services provided in Europe by Clever_Glove and nolf.
Keep this thread clean and there shouldn't be any reason to lock it.

Discrimination can have many reasons, one of them might be how strong/weak, popular/unpopular, good/bad market is. Discrimination means not equal treatment, reasons for it may vary.

On side note, this is not 100% serious thread image

    i have a better question here :D

europe has twice the population of america, why do americans play more mmorpg's than europeans???

  • StukovStukov Member Posts: 180
Hehe Malk, I didn't read most of the posts. But I've seen so many complaints about the contests being North America only, figured this was serious...

!! THIS IS NOT A SERIOUS THREAD !!

Just thought id make sure that was clear....again i would like to point out the distinct lack of humour that some of you have.

I kind of regret ever bothering with making this thread, it would seem that the American sense of humour greatly differs to the europeans. (Thats not me bad mouthing you yanks so dont even go there)
