If I understand this right only six of the factions (martial arts schools) will be playable at release. Three seem to be "good" and the other three "evil". Members of a guild must be all of one faction. Members of a group must be of one faction or an "allied faction". I'm assuming that means "good" guys can't group with "evil" guys. Aside from role playing I can't think why there would be such guild and grouping restrictions. There is no RvR as far as I can see. The only pvp seems to be arena duels. Why limit people's ability to form groups and guilds in this way?
Each faction has four classes that follow a similar pattern: (1) a pure fighter who relies on his natural abilities, (2) a fighter who uses chi (supernatural powers that will play a lot like magic) to enhance his combat ability, (3) a fighter who uses chi for healing, and (4) a hybrid fighter who combines traits of the other three classes for people who want to solo effectively.
The term "crafting" seems to be used to describe the process a player uses to improve his weapons. It doesn't look like we will be able to play crafters as a profession. That's unfortunate.
Please let me know if I'm wrong about any of this. I'm trying to interpret the little info in English I've been able to find about 9D. I'd love to hear from someone who has been playing the original Korean version.
I sure hope the characters are fully customizable. If eveyone in my guild is a Shaolin monk then we really need to be able to look different. I don't want to fight in a clone army :-)

It does look great. No boring combat, plus the graphics are very pretty. But then again, we don't really know if the combat is boring or not since they haven't released a whole lot of info other than "it's all martial arts and you have to train". It is definitely a competition between this and Fallen Earth as my new online game.
Oh, and: MY FIRST POST!
Indeed. The combat system sounds promising and fun. I'm unsure about the training, but we'll have to see how well that's incorporated into the game at a later time. For me this is behind ArchLord as my most anticipated upcoming MMORPG and I would love to see both perform well.
And gratz on the first post.
This seems to me to be a lot like City of Martial-Arts
Heroes – and I don’t consider that a bad thing.
I loved the combat in CoH, but that’s all it had: lookin’
pretty and kickin’ ass.
This looks a lot like that, as the first poster laid out,
with no significant crafting and magic only as a (hand-to-hand) combat aid. So far I haven’t seen any evidence that the
Chinese remember that bows exist in the Ming Dynasty, but that may still be to
come, I guess.
But because great combat CAN carry a MMOG, and I’m bored to
tears of combat in WoW (have been since the first minute I stepped foot in that
game ) I’m hoping this one gives me more life in the combat structure.
But please…I desperately need combat footage that isn’t
cinematic. Can you seriously flag-fight
like the drunken martial artist in one of the cinematic clips I saw? There’s so much color they can add to combat
and if they truly have I want to be able to start drooling now…

I'd love to get more info on the grouping. I don't think it will be as strick as some might think.
I hope acclaim get their marketing group to start getting the community some info or interest will start to fade for this game.
I found a site with lots of info (thanks to the official site, which incidentally has almost no info at all)

Now I already know what my character will be
Well, information is information, it doesn't matter where it comes from
Indeed.
But if anyone doesn't know, there are a number of articles about the game and the 9Dragons site (http://9dragons.acclaim.com/) has links to all of them. Just click the "More" button on the page and the list should pop up. Happy reading to anyone new happening upon the game.
*sigh*... I want to get my kung fu on!
I hate to point people to different forum but if you look at this thread on a forum for the Vietnamese version of the game you could see a lot more up-to-date screenshots.

You don't have to know the language. Just look at those pictures
I wonder if I can post picture here, because I could post somes.
This game setup very much like DAoC. White clan and Black clan has separate areas for low level players. There are general peace zone where everyone can access to which acts like a market place and frontiers zones and dungeons which allows players to RvR. Zone type are really flexible, GM can flag a zone PvP zone at any time.
This game is developing to be a clan vs clan and guild vs guild type of game.
A suit of armor usually has 6 pieces - head, body, leg, hand, shoes, and backpack all visible. Each could have sockets/pockets for customization. You can mix them all you like.
Hmm....what else should I ask ? I know! What are some of the emotes? I am guessing /sit is in there. Probably /wave too. What are some others?
Just got a news letter from acclaim on 9Dragons. Looks like the beta is slated for Oct/Nov for sure. Here's a clip from it.
I would prefer a game to be late on release and have most if not all the bugs fixed. Not finding all the bugs? Take more beta testers until your sure you have them, give people an insentive to report bugs exploits as well. I have been in a couple of beta tests where exploits were found but never reported until I reported them, people used them to farm items and money, in a beta? Whats the point, all characters should be wiped as well from when the beta is completed to the final product. This sounds unfair I know, but if the beta testers purchased the full game using the old account details, the company could give them a few item bonus or something to make up for having to start again from scratch.
So bring on the Beta and full game, I await thee !!
