OK, so I've been bouncing around MMOs for a while now. After beta testing EvE my first "big" game was WoW, which held my interest for about 18 months, by which time I'd done everything there was to do. I'm not a WoW hater... I had a lot of fun, but I got bored. I also play a couple of hours a night and a day of the weekend, and a 6 hour instance run is just too much time.
So I played GuildWars for a while, played through "Prophecies" as they are now calling it. Also fun, 3D diablo II in a lot of ways, but again, ran out of stuff to do.
So I tried DDO (forced grouping, enclosed game, no world to ride around on a mount... not for me). Then Auto Assualt which was different and quite good fun, but ran like crap on my machine due to it's appaulling engine, and that's on a server with about 4 other people on it!. Then Matrix Online, dying game, nothing to do when you reach 50. Nice community but if I wanted a chat room I'd go in a chat room.
Most recently I tried out Saga of Ryzom. Again a nice community, but I reached the mainland and I was like ... "right what now.. oh... grind all my skills to 250" /yawn. It's pretty and the world seems reasonably big, but "open ended game play" as they call the complete lack of content gets boring really quick and it just seems like an enormous girndfest.
Please MMORPG people help me out here. What MMO have I missed? Am I wrong about one of the games I mention above? What is fun and different? What games are there out there that will keep me amused like WoW did?
I'm starting to think that they are all just more of the same. Maybe I'm done with MMOs, maybe I need to wait for Warhammer, AoC or Vanguard. I don't know.
Any suggestions?

One thing you didn't mention was City of Heroes/Villains. Have you had a look at those? They can be quite fun games. I personally find COH/V fun in short bursts but not something I can sit at for hours on end, at least not anymore. But I had a blast with it for the first few months, so you might enjoy it. There's not much to do once you hit level 50, but level 50 takes a fair bit to achieve.

Grinding, questing, instancing etc.
I play Silk Road Online atm (grind fest) but I still think its a ok MMORPG, not to mention its free.
If you don't want to get bored, play FPS'. Ever changing enemy and every game is different and makes you think.
