i agree with moirae.......movies or anything else costs a hell of a lot less....but i wish they would discount for people who own like 3 accounts.......o well

I would love to see it free to play but the problem lacks in the way the game will turn out....almost every free to play game ends up bombing...and inorder to have a well based game the fee is needed to keep the dev still working and fixing crap so that all of us can enjoy it......unless u could find a dev team that works for free....and if u do refer them to me.....i got a few ideas i wanta get cracking on.

What are you talking about? The $15 a month is the standard fee. Very few people are going to have a problem with it except for kids. $15 is the same amount of money it would cost to go to the movies once a month and you get many more hours of enertainment out of an MMO than you do out of going to a movie.

And, actually, alot of people are looking forward to Stargate Worlds, some even more than Star Trek Online. Because its Stargate.

    They'll get alot of subscribers.

And GW is a terrible game. If they turned this into GW, most people would run. Except for the kiddies. i didn't say turn the game into GW.  i said the payment plan should be LIKE guild wars.  where people play for free and pay for expansions (content).

i just don't think many people would flock from their current MMO's over to stargate.  I see more people going to STO then SGO for sure.  If you think differently, then we'll just have to agree to disagree and see when they both come out, but I believe STO will be more successful.

Stargate on the other hand is strong very strong in fact with a new third series and SG-1 movies being made not to mention another season of SGA already confirmed, and if you also look at the main site for SGW you will see that there are already 48 guilds that are just waiting for this game.

i think SGW will be way more Successful then STO, plus you have to factor in that SG-1 was on air for 10 years no ST show ever went that long.

plus SGW is coming out in 07 so i think SGW will beat them to market first

i doubt guildwars will be more expensive than paying monthly fee

    monthly fee game : 14.99 x 12 = 179,98$USD + retail  39,99$USD

    thats 219.87$USD

Guild wars (expansions every 6 months so 1 game + expansion for 12 months)

Guild Wars Prophecies 39,99$USD  + GuildWars factions 49,99$USD thast 89,98$USD

P.S. all prices are taken from www.ebgames.com This is true with the prices but you gotta think, Prophicies, Factions, Nightfall within a year.  Because if you technically count a year you come across to the new EP.  Which is about 50 more bucks so 139.98 instead of 89.98.  Cheaper still? Yes.  BUT.... with those 3 games They still dont compare size wise to some of the MMORPG's out there like FFXI and WoW which are both huge.  So you get done with Guild Wars in a month where you play FFXI and WoW for about 8-9 months before you finish the game but there are much much more to do in them.

*Note, I play Guild wars and FFXI.  I do not and have not ever played WoW so dont bother with the fanboi crap*

But, back to the topic a bit.  I hope it is monthly fee because you have less children and immature idiots.  Guild Wars is RAMPANT with idiots.  Kills that game a lot of the time.

    EVE - Sharvala
    FFXI - Shazamalicious
Guild Wars - Xavier Lucifer & Charlize the Necro

My understanding is that Stargate Worlds is going to be available on the Xbox 360. Not sure how that would work if they charged a mothly fee, especially when many Xbox players already pay a monthly fee for Xbox Live.

It would work just how Final Fantasy 11 works. When you put in the game and boot up, it would direct you to a login server, where you would create an account and set up all the billing options for the monthly fee. I don't see too many MMO's being super popular on a console system. The 2 largest console MMO's that have been out, FF and EQOA have not been HUGE. I know that I have tried FF on the 360 and I hated it. But then again, I hated it when I played it on the PC as well.. But anyway.. It is viable for them to port it onto a console w/ fee's intact.

I agree that the monthly fee would root out younger kids and some of the more annoying people I've encountered on GW, but I don't want a monthly fee but if there is I'm willing to pay it.

I agree on this one.  I have played a few MMO's but until Guild Wars I never played more that a few months because I don't play enough to justify a monthly fee.  Most of you on this site are hard core gamers, but how many people do you know at work or school who know your MMO?  I think the MMO genre has benifited from WOW's marketing blitz and I would like to see more people appreciate MMO's.

ALSO, a chunk of the game industry (not MMO) revolves around gift giving, but I think people are reluctant to give a game that also requires a monthly fee.  A whole more units can be sold with no monthly fee.

POINT IS: will this be a game targeted at hard core gamers only?  OR will this game appeal to casual gamers and people who don't play games... yet?

Monthly fees with regular content patches. That is what I want to pay for.

Although you guys make some good points, honetsly, free2play is the way I go.  I refuse to pay for a game.  When I do that, I feel obligated to pay, or I'm not getting my money's worth.  And I don't think that is what a game shoudl be about, it should be a leisure activity that you enjoy., not a chore.  Not only can I not afford to p2p, I would just rather not, and deal with the huge lot of immaturity.  Once a great f2p game comes out, however long it may take, once it does finally happen, it was be huge.  Sure premium items is cheap, but its an alternative to make money.  Personally, i'm not an MMO marketing expert, but i' mean i could understand in-game advertising, TO A DEGREE, if it means no monthly costs.  I do however support the idea of having a retail fee.

In other words, you're too cheap to pay $15 a month when its less than the price of going to a movie and you get more entertainment for it.

this game will not be free at all. if thats what you are hoping for your out of luck.

would be different if from the start they designed it to be a free2play game but its not. i would suggest if you like the free games check out shot online 9dragons etc but those aren't really free sure the game might be but you still have to pay to get certain items or content.

so i would rather pay 50 bucks once and 15 a month instead of having to buy credits coins gold whatever just to get a better item in game

Movies only cost $8.00 here. They do everywhere. But not if you order food too just like every other person on the planet does.
