    Yeah he was right. I got one, but it's only usable for one account. I would have shared but it's not allowed. I'm so lonly with my dwarf girl. I haven't seen a player since I played.

    seem like the guys in ebgames told me it will start wednesday when i went to go pick up my copy of champion of Norrath.

    paid 5 dollars to get 2 preorder to get into beta to my surprise when i got home i checked my e-mails got 3 account ;)  im a happy man!!!

    so does that mean i will have 5 account when ebgames get their disc in?

    Nope, EBgames pre-order is for Open Beta, not closed.

    I thought anyone can enter into open beta? Surely they wouldn't give away an account into an Open Beta? I would wait until EB get the CD's and have sent them out. Many companies don't know what they're talking about. EB, Amazon, Gamespot, all make these mistakes all the time. Wait until the CD's are shipped out to be sure ;)!

    Originally EB and the other Online Distributors mentioned were offering the option to Pre-Order L2 and get into the Closed Beta as a Bonus. (They of course did this without NCsoft's concent) WTF were they thinking.  NCSoft made the comment afterwards that any purchase made would NOT guarentee a spot in the Closed Beta.

    There are no more possibilities to get into the Closed Beta. The word is Open Beta is to start near the end of February, beginning of March. In which case any deals made with these distributors is rendered useless and you wasted $59.95 US. DOH!!! 

    Just wait for the Open Beta. Lineage 2 isn't going anywhere but closer to release date.

    EDIT: Well I just got the following email:

    I wouldent call anyone an idiot for pre ordering since you can easily cancell your order at any time even after the pre order bonus stuff arrives. Because the pre order bonus items are not for resale thus they cannot make you go threw with the order just because you receave an incentive item.

    So do you have the CD? Is it deffinately Open Beta? What else did you get with it out of interest. Some companies offer reserving of names, a paper cup, cards all sorts of oddities? What did you get?

    Edit: btw i don't suppose you know why it asks me for my microsoft office CD when i reply to a topic do you?

    I will know in 2 days. Aparently that is when it arrives on my doorstep.

    So I'll post on the Forums when i do.

    My guess is that because the Closed Beta IS Closed, it is more likely to be an Open Beta CD. Which is kinda stupid in my mind because the software will be available from the home site.

    But untill 2 more days I will not know for sure.

    It is on the main Lineage 2 web site stating that the Pre-order is only for Open Beta. They did this because there are a lot of people out there that don't know about betas, so they posted an advertisement that you can play the game in the beta while you wait for its release to come around. So the folks that have no clue about betas don't ever have to visit a web site or sign up for anything, they just get the bonus CD and play, along with those that are on 56k that would take weeks to download the game client don't have to worry about that either.

    I've been a VP of marketing for a long time and only once in a blue moon does someone state in publicly advertised information that directly relates to another company without having fist talked to that company and made an agreement, especially having over a dozen different vendors come up with the exact same mistake. Either there was a big communication break down (which happens all the damn time) or the advertising firms didn't wish or didn't feel that stating which beta was necessary to do.

    Right now it comes down to if you are going to buy the game for 49.99 and you would like the extra stuff and plan to play the open beta anyway, pre order the game. If you don't want to spend anything until the game is out and don't care for the extra stuff, sign up for the open beta when it is ready and then buy the game when it is released, no big deal. I pre ordered it just because at the time I had the permission from my ball and chain so I jumped at the chance, the extra stuff is just what it says... extra stuff.

    EDIT: Plus I'm lazy and ordering it saves me a trip to the store.
