Just got the email stating beta 2.4 CDs shipped today.

damn , i think i will be to late to start testing with you guys because i just got the email yesterday saying they will ship soon.

How long does it takes for a cd to arive?
I got my mail yesterday to verify my adress. I'm looking to what? 2-3 days/weeks?

Nervax is still handling all the shipping of CDs to the US (Themis group will not take over until open beta). My CD came from Paris and it got to me in roughly 6 days. They shipped it on a Wednsday and it arrived the following Tuesday, considering there was a Sunday and a Holiday between the 2 days it got to me pretty fast
I still think it would be better if they put the client online...even if that is more expensive.

I don't know, I kinda like having developers send me the CDs. Granted it means waiting a little longer to get the client but this way I have a momento of my experience (I've got a nice little collection of beta cds going, along with a few t-shirts given out in a select couple of betas
)
Although, I can definately see where you are comming from, putting the client up for download does enable one to get it alot faster and gets you into the action quicker while at the same time ensuring that your client didn't get lost in the mail. But, even that has it's downfalls, when you get everyone trying to download at once the server tends to grind to a halt then everyone is up in arms over not being able to download and inevitable some of them start flaming the company for not having a big enough pipeline to handle the load.
I guess my point is, they are damned if they do and damned if they don't heh.

I just think they should have allowed us to log in when we got the CD's. This way the login wont be over crowded on the 20th.
That would've been hard to do when they have the servers off line until the 20th
I think there are internal things that they are doing (updating the game, updating/upgrading the hardware, etc etc) before the test starts again tomorrow that they needed to take everything completly off line to do it. Of course they could have gave everyone forum access right away, unless that is tied into the same network .
Strange, i was able to log in and create a character...But then i got booted. lol
Was that today? Could be that they were testing something when you happened to try so the server was online.
Only 15 more hours till we can all log in and hopefully NOT get booted hehe.
I have been playing for several hours now.
Well what do you know, I just tried the client again and you guys are right, the server is up. They must have put it up a day or so early....not that I'm complaining hehe
