Im curious to see these numbers, and since we know soe lurks here often w/o posting, im willing to bet maybe, just maybe it might be the right time to post a poll like this with all of the fallout from soe employees this week.

So heres the deal:

Only vote if you currently do not subscribe to swg.  if you have station pass do not vote. 

pass on the poll link to friends, lets try to get these numbers as accurate as possible.  it really is in our best interest =p

I just thought about this today and for a brief moment I got really excited...then I remembered that its all just a silly dream and the only MMO I ever wanted to play is dead forever.  RIP old buddy.

Major people, people involved with the creation, implementation, and continuation (feel like Johnny Cockran) of the NGE, would have to be fired first.  With out their termination (in both LA and SOE) and the resignation of Smedley, no way.

And Smedley's resignation should be called for just through plain business sense, under his leadership SOE has lost the leadership of the market.  He is no longer innovative, he is a reactionary and always a step behind competitors.

Oh and SWG would have to move back towards implementing the old system, new classes could be kept as professions, but the rest of the professions that were removed must be restored.

You bet.  In a heartbeat.  I was one of the crazies with 4 paying accounts, too.

I am not so lunatic as to want someone fired, or demand an apology, this is silly and does not happen in the business world.  A rollback would be the best apology you are ever going to get.

People need to realize that getting what you want is winning in the real world, not getting stupid words like "I'm sorry" or "We should not have done this."

the point im going for with this is trying to show a little snapshot of what soe/la might gain by providing a classic or rollback option.  they know exactly how many people they lost.  not like they dont know they just arent talking about it publically.

this poll is for their bean counters to look at and think "well if we did roll back, hmm we'd gain this many subs"

which is given the posts lately, sounds to me like its a topic they just might be willing to revisit.

I can't vote in your poll, it doesn't roll back far enough. The NGE didn't turn our little city on Dan into a ghost town, the CU did.

I don't care who is to blame. I just want the server turned on. C'mon, you can do it. No one would have to know. Just press the 'Classic Server Button' and walk away. You won't say nuthin', I won't say nuthin'. If anyone asks, we can say we bought it off e-Bay...

I have to say I agree with psycho in principle...Smedley et al really need to be fired before I trusted them fully and perhaps if I didn't love the old SWG so much I could stick to my guns and not fall for it.  I also know myself, however, and unfortunately I know I would still reactivate even if all I got was a classic server.

If it was pre cu, in a heartbeat.  For the Cu, I would have to do some soul searching, not to mention some serious drinking, but yeah probably.  I simply cant find anything else to hold my interest.....

Hey, I agree with Psycho in principle also.  I have a LOT of anger at the NGE garbage being thrust on a loyal and intelligent playerbase.  Those execs are not only stupid, but arrogant and pompous.  I will not play any SOE games nor add to their income.  But a Classic Server would get me back, I have to admit.  I would not need an apology or a lynching to start playing again.  I was just addicted to that game.

And when it comes to the other post about the poll not rolling back far enough, I have to admit, I interpreted "Classic" as Pre-CU.  But worst case scenario, I would settle for CU.  I was still playing it then.  NGE made me quit and cancel in a matter of hours.  (That was 4 accounts, SOE.)

For yes i voted for pre-CU. And i would want some kind of statement that nothing like the CU or NGE will be done to said server.

As stated above they know how many they lost, and continue to lose. Even if there was a "classic server" A Large number just would'nt go back anyway.

I mean if i did go back, there would always be the nagging doubt that some muppet is going to tell us "we are ripping your game apart once again" Its fun an cool an blah blah blah.

I voted yes but i would limit it to a single acount. Just incase.

I would definately come back before the combat update...my bro and i purchased a second computer and a second account.  This was the first MMO i really got into.  I played EQ1 for a few months then this came out and my bro and i were HOOKED.  I mean he would get p!$$ed when i came home (when we had 1computer) to kick him off. We had such a good time back in the day when it was fun.  Two 20ppl groups to take on that dragon type thing (been soooo long cant remebre what it was called).  Then i came back to "Solo Groups" omg what a bore...That was rediculous, the buffs got way out of hand and the armor resistances.  The game went down hill fast and would love to see it back at its roots.

I have to say I liked both pre CU and CU about equally.  I didn't like defense stackers pre-CU, but I also didn't like the destruction of buffs in CU so for me its really about a toss up.  To be honest my first angry experience goes all the way back to about publish 4 or 5 when they nerfed CH's so badly that my master Bioengineer went from being a lot of fun to having lots of useless inventory.  My next angry experience was pub 9 when the village came out and everyone got screwed on the "credit" for hologrinding.  My next was the CU when my house full of millions of dollars in doctor buffs and buff ingredients became utter junk overnight. 

In summary, I have a hard time pinpointing any particular timeframe as a "golden era" for me so I have to say anything preNGE is probably enough to bring me back with sweaty palms and butterflies in my stomach...even if I had to start from nothing.  Having said all of that though I can definitely say NGE killed every ounce of fun in that game for me.  The other problems were mere firecrackers compared to the Hydrogen bomb of NGE.

I keep praying this is all an advertising gig, a 'Classic Coke vs New Coke' stunt, and that Congress will convene and force a bill through the House that will say...

"Quit screwin' around with our Coke!!"...again.

...and then six-packs of fresh, 'Classic' SWG would show up in your grocer's freezer!

...and then I could subscribe, again.

I have tried each publish so far , Each before the latest I quit soon after trying. However the new patch has actually had a slight nostolgic appeal to me. Bh got some nice loving in this patch , As I have said before . The expertise for bh is actually quite nicely done. It  is nice to notice skills/stats working again as well. Auto-aim really makes it all feel like old again in a way .It is also possible to build your toon again , That is what NGE really lacked . No you don't have as much freedom .  Not even close actually . However it is a step in the right direction IMO .

I would have asked if you would come back for Pre-cu instead of pre-nge. Or give both options.

my yes vote has a condition, get soe out of the customer service and realtions side. tey clearly do nto give a fig about the player that pay the bills. not to say LEC is any better, but i am williing to give them a chance on the people skills. I would prefer a pre-cu, but honestly i could live with cu.

theres a reason i didnt.  because its realistically never going to happen pre cu.  Jump was post cu 1 and theres no way theyre going to ditch all that code, nor should they, theres a lot of post cu and curb stuff that was actually an ok idea (improved tef system and gcw was my fav).  DWB of old was fun as well.  they spent a lot of time on that code not to mention mustafar etc..  we know they just wont throw those resources away.  i think pre nge is the best we could honestly ever hope for out of soe, hence why the question is phrased as such.

the only way people are gonna get that pre cu content imho is thru an emu.

again, not realistic.  refunding 3 expansions is just never going to happen.  let alone ripping jump to lightspeed out of the game along with the crafting professions tied to it.  its just not realistic, pre nge is.

the question is simple tho and im not asking what will make money.  my question and the poll are very clear would you resub if they did.  not morally, not ethically.  not in a perfect world, and certainly not what some people would say on the net because of how it looks.  just would you or not.

Only a total rehaul to precu will get me back...

And prenge has as much cance as precu which is pritty slim......

Then in a month, cancel and tell them to f-themselves for screwing us.

I agree  with the two earlier posters First, the game had been turned in to crap long ago a roll back is needed at least befor CU. Secondly, with out some rearrangement in leadership and a belivable commitmant to fixing the game not changinf it then whats the point. Without a leadership change they would still be making their backroom changes while lieing to the community the whole time. In a year you would just have some stupid crap game again and furthur frustrarion.
