Frankly, that's bullshit. The senators don't pay more than everybody else...they don't do more work...wtf do they do anyway...

What exactly is cool that they are being told?
There hasn't been anything "cool" going on in SW:G since release.
The only cool thing is the talented people that hepled create classic galaxies left SOE and will hopefully learn from mistakes made in the past.
These guys worked their asses off for the player base back when I played. Most wrote lengthy posts on "How To's" or actual manuals for their professions, beyond that mind numbing work they were also the people who did their best to communicate ideas and issues with the devs.
I would not wish that responcibility on my worst enemy, though I think maybe you (The OP) should try for a second to be in their shoes before making an entire thread dedicated to flaming your fellow players who do nothing but want to help you. If they do get "Secret Information" lol they certianly deserve it more than cry baby whiners, who can only see the grass on the other side of the fence.

Because, in general, the Senators are useless colon-sucking monkeys. It also gives the Senators who need such the opportunity to powertrip, letting everyone know they're in the know and we aren't (I am excepting a certain poster on these forums from this statement). It is a useful tool for making sure the Senators continue to toe the company line and endlessly extoll the faux-virtues of the NGE.

The Senate is their suckup circle jerk focus group. They are not representative of the player base in any way, because no attempt has been made to make it so, even in the most cursory way.
Basing anything at all off such a narrow, distorted sample is certain to get wrong answers more than right.
Which is why I objected to them (not in the terms I did above, but how I just said it is more honest and accurate) and had to be removed from the SOE forums (despite not violating any of their guidelines).
Think of the Senators (and yellow is the streak they all have down their backs) as those people who say "yes", "greatest idea ever, sir" in those stupid meetings with managers we all have to endure.
You know what focus group SOE should be using? The cancel button. They should adjudge as WRONG everything they've done and how they've done it since the subs started falling for good from 250-300K, and especially from the point it quit growing. Instead their conclusion keeps somehow being "it's not that we were wrong, it that we didn't do enough of it".
After reading this, I wonder if what I had read somewhere that some of the Senators, Darth_Sushi. Meatpuppet and a few others were in the focus group that brought the NGE upon us. If this is true, are they still using their position, to bring these enhacements on us without real community input. One example would be this crazy new inventory change, which one of them thought that was so important? And after Kristen has kept that " burn elder houses down " post on the first few pages for months, what is comming next. How 10 or so people can have the ear of SOE and LA without community support, is beyond me.

Me, I never understood why they bothered to call them 'Senators' in the first place. Who voted for them again? Oh yeah, no one. Old corrospondents? Whoopdeedoo there as well. Sorry, I'm just not sold on the idea of making some players Starbellies and leaving others out. Seriously, whatever senators said the NGE was great should be impeached. Oh yeah, we can't do that, they're not elected, they just posted so many times on a forum that it's assumed they speak for others.
Why not call them Dukes and Barons? At least that title is more fitting of a person who kisses butt to maintain their status quo, even at the cost of the serfs. These 'senators' remind me more of those sicophantic kids who had to be hall monitors just so they got to be a bit more than a regular student. Always raising their hands in class, always can speak as the 'voice' of the class...
Senators, lol, who cares what they do? If SOE wants to fly them to Austin or Paris or wherever, just so they can smell the latest of Helios' turds, let them. Doesn't bother me any. I did have some respect for the old corrs back in the day, back when the job wasn't kissing SOE butt in public. They had to do a lot of busywork just writing stuff instead of playing the game, but with that job went extra responsibility so that arguement as why we should respect a senator doesnt wash with me either. Choosing a small unrepresentative group of the playerbase, giving them a title, and expecting them to be leader-material is like choosing officers out of a boot camp by drawing straws; good luck with that.

SWG's failure is a sad sad story of pride and ego. Their inability to ever admit to a substantive mistake and then take it back (CUNGE) lost them everything. Hell, had they done that, no one would have bugged them about the mistake, say, if they'd rolled back to pre-CU a couple weeks after the CU, or back to the CU a couple weeks after NGE. No, we'd have praised them.
Words mean things. It's a bad name. SOE should have called them "player guides" or something. Hell, even correspondent was better. But remember NGE was the height of the "everything must be Starwars-Y and Iconic" kick, and correspondent wasn't Starwars-Y or Iconic.
The real irony is that our "Senate" (yellow emphasized) actually IS rather Starwars-Y and Iconic.... Of Galactic Senator Jar-Jar Binks and Palpatine

Hmm, absurd and poorly educated? Just because a guy writes a couple of guides for a game he enjoys playing...he should get to see everything before I do? Most of the old Corros were dicks and everybody knows it (Wepps comes to mind). They only wanted the position to have special status in the community and most did not get anything accomplished besides nerfs.

Any Corro who didn't quit within a few months of the NGE who became a Senator and pushes the Devs BS that they will somehow turn the game's CUNGE induced death spiral around isn't worth your yellow liquid if they were on fire. The good ones are GONE.

Let me ask you a question , Out of boredom tonight . I was looking through some regular posters here , SWG post history . Atleast the ones I know names of .Out of all the people ,Why was yours the most hostile ? From early 05 where it began , Up until the last post in 06 you had one long ass rant LOL .
Issues I noticed you being the most outspoken on were TEF's and seemed to have a hardy stance against such a system . Bounty hunters , Same faction hunting , PVP in general , DOts. These are the few things that stand out anyway . I also noticed you were quite pissed about balance issues pre-cu .
The only thing I really saw you praise was the removal of tefs .

I just found your demanor rather hateful , Which I can respect . You definitely kept your intentions on focus . I also agree there was a lot wrong with swg for its entire span .

Senators are used by SOE, so when they have to announce something crappy guess who gets to announce it? Either that or the dev that's going to be in the dog house this month, until next month when he gets to play good dev.
