I've heard alot about the expertise system being old-skills that were simply taken away and reused to make it appear that SOE introduced a whole new system. Any examples of this??
All NGE skills were re-hashed into expertise. After conversion, you usually end up with the almost the same skill-bar as you had. They added some new ones as well.
Not really sure if you're referring to skills and skill modifiers, or just the specials.
But overall, it's not a whole new system, you just get a choice of a handful of new attacks, and even those are linked in some freakish non-planar graph manner defying any currently proven knot theory that doesn't make any sense to me.
But no, there's nothing to write home about in the expertise trees. It's same old salad with choice of salt or pepper.

I wouldn't be that harsh, but I do mostly agree. I would much rather have the old branches back.

For Jedi, they already had their revamp earlier in the year, so most of their expertise is just improving the stuff they got rather then introducing completely new stuff. There are still a few things new to Jedi though. Besides, expertise trees are more then just buying specials, you also have defensive and offensive lines you can get, depending on what type of template you're going for.
BH gained a whole range of new specials, while also improving on what they already have (if they choose those lines, of course).

So what if you dont want to play jedi or BH - do people think players are willing to play other proffesions on the basis that nerfs and major overhauls are comming there way in the next year (that aint even logical)
To the op - do you remeber give it 6 months ? well it's been closer to a year and there not even half way through the revamp (they did it because the pre-CU code was to complex and if thats the case is'nt anything they code to complex for them to understand besides maybe solitaire) you gave them what they asked now its time to move on and watch the forums, de-bunking all the lies the NGE fans can sprout.

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say. If you're meaning does anyone want to play the other professions that haven't got expertise yet, then yes many do. Officer and Smuggler are about to recieve their expertise so the expertise isn't stopping at just BH and Jedi.
As for the 6 month thing...that claim was made before expertise was even being talked about.
