I was just curious, has anyone heard of this company? I was called out of the blue by them yesterday, but either I was getting poor reception from my cell phone, or the person wasn't talking, either way, I couldn't hear them. So I hung up and went on my merry way.
The next day however (today), they call me at about 7 am saying that today was the last day to call, that I must call today. They never said what they were, just a "Mr. Cunningham," so I had no clue who or what I was calling. So I call the number on my cell, and I get this automated voice saying, "Welcome to Leading Edge Recovery Solutions, you will be directed to a operator in a moment." This lead to your cliche` "on hold music" a mix of smooth jazz and Michael Bolton, until I finally got an operator, the man simply said "Leading Edge" and then I was suddenly cut off. No one had hung up because there was no "Call Ended" notice on my cell phones screen, just the man screen I get when my phone was on.
Soon after this call I decide to google the place and all I seem to find out was that it was some kind of investment, or debt recovery or some such, but that doesn't answer how in all that is good, they got my cell number. I've never used it before in signing up for anything, just my home number, so I'm at a loss. I'm thinking of calling it again later once I'm done with my school reading, (School starts tomorrow
) but I'm just curious as to what you guys think.

Willing to bet it's a collections agency.

Yup, and they get your cell number from various databases.
I was the victim of identity theft back in 91-92 for the sum of about 15,000. I still get those damn phone calls after moving and changing number 8 or 9 times.
I shoot for the curve... anything above that is gravy.

I just had similar dealings with a company called TruLogic Financial myself. They've been calling me everyday 3 hours AFTER their business hours with an automated service requesting I call them regarding an "important business opportunity". This went on for nearly 3 months before I FINALLY got ahold of a human being only to find out that the person they are asking for does NOT live here. My girlfriend had spoken to them once before and they said they "deleted" us from their calling list. They gave me a line of BS about having two databases and that we were only deleted from one.
As Motor said above, I listed the FDCPA and stated that they were to cease and desist all calls to this number. Of course, I have a little extra fodder on them since they had called twice after 9pm, which anyone who has worked in the industry knows is a no-no. The superviser got a bit snotty when I said that and I gladly emailed him the call-list report from Vonage (which happily lists all incoming/outgoing calls and their times/lengths). He pretty much had to eat a steaming pile of crow at that point.
My final suggestion to you is to also write them a formal letter, certified, requesting that you be removed from their call lists also. You can find all their info here.
Hope that takes care of it. And for anyone else out there I STRONGLY suggest familiarising yourself with the FDCPA.
"What is it I have against Microsoft, you ask? Well, you know how you feel when you wait for an MMO to come out and when it does you feel like you've paid to play it's beta test for another 6-9 months before anything even thinks of working the way it should? Being a network engineer you feel that way about anything Microsoft puts out."
