Thread Killer

In the few posts I have made, all threads have died shortly, if not immediately, after I post.

Am I a thread killer? Do I have the power to halt even the most heated debates? Do I perhaps have the power to halt the EVE vs The World debates single handedly?

Is it that my posts are so profound that they settle all debates and answer all questions? Do I just have killer timing? Do I always arrive a day late and a dollar short (story of my life lol)? Or perhaps my posts are simply so dumbfounding, even the most skilled flame-troll is left speechless?

Only time will tell... (This post was made with a bit of tire, a smidge of skewed observation, and a lot of sarcasm.)

That is exactly what happened to me when I first started to post. All the threads would get maybe two more replies at the most, then fade to the bottom of the pile. Yeah, I had the same delusions about my skill of using the most profound ideas, cornering all options, and filling my posts with flame-proof logic. Soon after, I saw something (Zerogenum's posts will remain anonymous) that really got me, well, a little more than angry. I began to post more and more in debate threads (and started a semi-successful one of my own) and now I have no more preconceptions of being troll-proof. Some people are just too bull-headed or just plain stupid to let what you say go without reply. As for ending the EVE v WoW war, there is just no way that any single person can do it; it's like Tony Blair asking for peace in the Middle East, not gonna happen. Maybe it just takes a while for the community to get used to another person with great input. Over time, you will become more cynical and more sarcastic, your patience will run thin, and then people will see how much thread-killing, flame-proof logic you have in your posts. Best of luck on you posting (I notice your account is pretty old for only a dozen posts so far), and I hope you don't get pulled into any train-wreck debates.

-If you read this Zerogenum I don't mean to be flaming you, it was merely an example. I'll keep the arguments on the argument threads if you will too.

Now here's your dilemma Zieen, you can break your curse of being a thread killer and argue with this guy till both of you are blue in the face (or, as it would be, fingers) or you can ignore him and keep living (and posting) in bliss until someone else torques you off.

Zerogenum, I honestly had no malicious intent with my comment and told you I am willing to bury the hatchet (or the hammer & sickle) and keep arguments on the argument threads.

Or beating civilian prisoners until they pass out then splashing water on them and starting over, calling it "Moderate Physical Pressure".

What i object to is your constant need to twist every thread so you can discuss your views on Immigrants, the Holocaust and racial conflict.

I'll happily support your right to free speech and to say whatever the hell you want...

Well I didnt hijack the thread really, kimosabe did. He turned it into an oppurtunity to take a jab at me (read the posts as I never came in until i was mentioned by name). So i guess he's your hijacker.

And thank you for choosing free speech over political correctness, i appreciate it.

Yeah... mostly happens to me as well. I'm usually very tenacious in arguing unless it requires me to do a lot of research of historical facts (although there's been a thread or two where I actually learned something).

It's kind of sad when the person you're arguing with gives up, ignores you or can't reply because of RL circumstances, but in those few instances of victory: It's definitely worth it.

This is mostly used for a place of debate more than anything else: Most of threads you see here are inflammatory for a good reason; they are meant to stimulate debate.

Sooner or later, however, a topic gets boring or is overshadowed by more interesting topics.....

/applaud, very well said and you make a good point. A lot of the threads ARE created to strike up a debate
Not only that but most of these debates die off when the next "hot" subject comes around. Which is the whole "cycle of topics" people bring up now and then. Join us next week as we discuss chuck norris again

I have come from a variety of forums and have picked up various 'internet/forum ethics' from all of them. In former clans, I have been a renowned thread high-jacker, but all in good fun (it became a competetion). However in most cases, I try to follow the 'post intelligently' policy. I'm sure in time I will either grow use to the boards and join in on flamewars (unlikely) or I will move on.

As far as hijacking the thread, I'd like to think that as the OP I have some authority on the matter. I must credit any hijacking to zero. Although the fact that kimosabe felt it necessary to single out zero by putting his guard up, it is somewhat undeniable that he did start flaming first -- albeit subtley and perhaps unintentionally.

And yet another revelation in the matter of why people seldom reply after I have... Perhaps my posts just drag on so long potentional repliers are either bored to death or refuse to read my post and in a shining moment of morality feel it inappropriate to post in a debate without reading the last post?

Nah... that can't be it. I think the majoritiy of my posts are so flame retardant and/or neutral that they are just overlooked.
