If you say it like that everything sounds pointless. What's the point of getting a job so that you can have money to give to people so that you can eat? You're just going to die anyway.

The point? Because you want to. It's something to do in life.

IMO the problem with MMORPG industry is that big companies with money to throw away make games that caters to masses, or in another words they try to make WoW 2. They dont take risks, they repeat the same pattern because they can be relatively sure that they get their investments back.

Small companies or independent companies are the ones making the most interesting games atm, they HAVE to because they cant compete with the big companies using the same formula. The propblem there is that they dont have lot of money or resources, hence the poor graphics quality for example in Roma Victor.

So in another words, if you think gameplay>>>>>graphics, then i suggest you ignore the big titles and start looking at less known ones.

I have suffered the same problem, and if you find the wrong game it can very much feel like this. The game you look for must have INTENSE combat, not one on ones for hours against the SAME monster but partys exploring unknown places killing multiple monsters at one time and sometimes even pressing more than 2 buttons!!! lol. The key to keep players hooked is reward! Something new every level, ANYTHING like a new weapon, a new form of transport or the capability to join an army, then a clan etc. Antoher thing i wish to see in a game is multiple terrained areas for one level NOT one monster for hours in one enviroment so if you get bored you can travel from the snow area to a dessert and still be capable of killing the monsters, also this idea lets element magics take effect so a fire mage is more suited to a jungle area making him more powerful and suited to his enviroment making him more unique to all other mages. It would help to have more elite classes once you reach a certain level making your character MORE unique! I probably ask too much, but over all Paade is generally right in his philosophy. I would suggest ROSE online to be very interesting as the reward factor is great, Priston Tale as Battles are intense and exciting and Guild Wars As your Enviroment and NPC friends change Rapidly.

You should not even bother spending your time in a MMO. You should play Hack&Slash, FPS games instead then if you think it is boring to gain levels are do quests, look4agood1

If you long for some innovation in games you should all check out the disscussions in 'Developers Corner' section of MMORPG.com under the 'General Categories' section of the forums.  They talk about some GREAT things that could make MMORPGs much better and take advantage of the full potential of the genre.

Not saying this is the solution for all your problems but, A good game for you would probably be GunZ. Because its Half RPG and 3rd Person Shooter. So you Kill Other people to level up and get new gear and stronger guns and your not killing some stupid computer .

    For more information contact http://www.gunzonline.com

If you see no point in MMORPG, why are you even part of this MMORPG forum. I think the fun for me is playing with actual people, as opposed to sitting in front of an xbox or PS2 and playing the computer, you can actually talk to people and make friends

I would rather play online wtih actual people instead of with the computer on an xbox I like meeting new people who enjoy the same sort of games as I do, I guess you have to be a gamer to understand.

I guess mmorpgs are pretty much a time sink just like any other game but these are a much much bigger time sink.  Also if you have a good enough imagination you can think of yourself as the char your playing, but that wears off after awhile
