Levels Vs. Roleplaying

I almost always run into the same problem everytime I play a new MMO.   My problem is I will start out so interested in the games lore and following the quest storylines but as time goes on I get drawn into the levelling crazy and start to just skip reading the quest other than scanning it for objectives.

I have talked to a number of other players like myself that like to Roleplay and enjoy the story yet in the long run often fall into the "hurry-up-and-level" mindset.  Let me put a disclaimer that this thread isn't meant to be a "all praise Guild Wars" thread.  That said I have found that with Guild Wars having such a low level cap and ability to level in a weekend or so that you find yourself actually sitting back and enjoying the story more.  And considering that a majority of the actual story takes place after you have hit the cap you are much more likely to have the time to do the RPG part of MMORPG.

Of course Guild Wars isn't a true MMORPG so it is a bit harder to play true roleplaying within it (at least when compared to some other MMOs).

But I digress.... Back to the orginal topic Levels vs. Roleplaying.   Within games that are level based and that have a large range between levels how do you keep yourself from wanting to fly thru the content just to keep up with Guildmates while forsaken the RPG aspects that draw you to MMOs?

Hah, i know exactly what you mean. In WoW i was taking my time, reding the quests. Then i got in a big guild and all they tell you is "Get To 60!!" So then thats what i did and after i did i got bored of the game and quit. What keeps me in a game is usually skills to level up like in runescape, but i quit that a long time ago. I guess most people are just more interested in end-game stuff rather then the fun in between.
