What will happen to UXO now?

I don't post on forums often, but I have to say I am really concerned about this move to Cali. I see post's from dev's saying farewell and I question the future of UXO.

It just bugs me that some of brilliant minds behind this game will no longer be working on this project.

Will the new dev's have the same dedication?

Will the game be delayed further?

Will they carry on with the origial idea's?

These are just a few questions that plague me.

I'm waiting on this game like most of you guys and would only like to point one thing out concerning this move.

EA (Electronic Arts) did this same exact thing with Earth and Beyond EXCEPT they did it a month or two after the game went live.

At that time, the team was in Indiana (I think) and they made the same type offer and moved them out to Calf.

Since the game had just gone live, lots of players were upset because it slowed down some of the tweaks and stuff the game needed and of course led to rampant rumors.

I'd suggest that EA learned from that and simply is making this move before the game begins and not much more then that.

If anything it might tell you that this game is VERY near to being ready.

I was very critical of EA at the time but after playing SWG and Horizons I think we are in pretty good hands with them.

If I remember correctly they gave the team about 3 weeks to get settled. Sometimes big companies like to follow a pattern and it wouldn't surprise me to see something about beta in that time frame. Of course I'm just guessing.

i think there are 3 things that can happen now

    1) They will replace them with people who will continue with this game to the letter (which will lead to a decent game, but one which i do not think will progress like it could)

    2) The game will die on its ass

    3) They will replace them with people who will carry on with the original ideas, plus add their own spark to the game and make it even better.

Now i am hoping obviously for number 3, but that depends entirely how much cash is going to be forthcoming to employ new people i am thinking.

PS: if this game turns out like i hope then praise be to EA, otherwise i am gonna burn all EA executives at the stake image

Dunno, so far I'm not as excited about this as I would be if they were implementing more features from UO into it. I will really miss having a mount and the level system scares me. One of the things I loved most about UO was the skill based system rather than level.

Hoping for the best and hoping to get into Beta. I probably won't buy the game if I can't beta it first.

    Still in: A couple Betas

I felt the same way when I first heard of it's release. I have a UO account with an elder tamer which is my favorite character. But I have become fond of barding recently. It took me awhile to get use to the idea that it was not going to be anything like UO. Then as this game progressed it seemed to be better in many ways. Well, at least for my playstyle. There are many feature's that keep me interested in this game and the unreal engine looks great.

Cant wait for beta or my pre-ordered copies. My wife and I have been looking for the next mmo for us to play since the release of aos which was a disappointment to us. But at the moment still something to do until the mmo's are released.

I just hope this game continues on with the same great idea's it was started with.                       OZ

Since UXO has lost almost all of the creators of the game; it will probably go in a new direction. Video game making is like an art, you can't being a painting and quit half-way through and expect someone with a different vision to complete it. The EARLIEST release of beta is now September. But that is if the game makes it to September, It could very well be canceled.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Even if UXO lost their core Dev team, whoever is still working on it has a good start.  If they can continue to build on what has already been done, I think the game will still end up fine.  However, it could be disaster if the new team, like you said above, decides to go in a totally different direction.  Major gameplay features and options could be changed, which I don't want to see happen.  I just hope that enough oringinal people are still there to keep everyone on the right path.
