Which game leveling system would you like in this game. Your traditional leveling system where you have levels (wow, coh) or would you like the skill based leveling (SWG)? Let me hear some opinions thegood and bad of both styles. I would really like to have the skill leveling system because it will be something different. You can split the specialization so many different ways its ridiculous. You could specialize Weapon types, Defensive specialization, technology specialization-weapons and defensive (shields, invsisibility) The possibilities are endless in this style.

I would say, like Eve Online where you can do EVERYTHING there is to do, but there's so much to do you don't have the time to do everything! It's an awesome idea... I just can't get in to the gameplay of the game. Their training is a matter of time, not grinding and it's certainly interesting.
so...
game skills and skills at the game are very different. In EVE veterans only have an advantage for 6 months. It takes about 6 months to learn the game anyway so the argument you make (which is a common misconception) is invalid however i don't think EVE system would work in most games.
Make a difference!
mabey even a fusion of the 3 different systems

I put others, because whatever Zeb is doing, it is going to be cool and it won't be similar to SWG or WoW.
I enjoy both, levels for grouping, skills for soloing. Levels can be used in soloing, skills can be used in grouping...but they both work better in a precise setting.
Skills have a flaw for grouping, a huge flaw...it is hard for peoples to assets you, which in turn make it harder to find the right person for the group...not to mention that skills might be problematics when it come to have define roles...
yet, both could be cool...each in their own way.

I also like being able to split up what I do, with the caveat that I can't do and be everything simultaneously on a single character.
So if I was Terran I might invest in skills that'd make me a good corpsman. Or focus on support and heavy weapons (I shouldn't be able to carry, say, a Stinger missile and a M60 though). I shouldn't be able to be a top notch field surgeon with a Stinger Missile. That just seems silly.
However since you can rest assured that I'll be a Replicator construct, I might stick on some different components to make my bug faster/stronger/shoot more acid/break computers quicker... Hehe. All I need is "Jump on Face" and "Spray Acid".
What I never understood about Skill Based vs. Level Based is that in most of the games where I had options to put into a variety of skills I got them (Skill Points, Improvment Points in AO, Certs in PlanetSide) from levels anyway.
