Essentially you didnt like it because the game was pwning you. Sorry dude the game has a learning curve. No one is an expert after n00b island. Instant gratification just isnt something AO will offer a spanky new player.
Cerebral obviously isnt your thing, but I'm a firm believer that given a chance anyone can learn to play AO and thrive if they're willing to just use the old mellon a bit. Look past the graphics and show me a game with as diverse character custimizability...no I'm not talking about a pretty avatar, but character skills and abilities...Which to me are far more important than having a spiffy Cookie cutter char.

I played the game and disliked it ClinTX...I DISLIKED IT. Becouse you disliked it does not mean the game sucks. I played this game for an few hours, but got tired of the grinding. That simply aint my thing. However for an grinding game this is an good one. As an new player poeple help you a lot so it has an good comunity. Who cares for GFX? I prefer gameplay over gfx. Always done so, good gfx is an luxery and nice addition to an game.
The biggest issue is the horrible lag. I play BF2 with 20ms, my computer can handle Oblivion. But trying AO, any actions, lets keep ip simple and just say auto-attack, press Q, seriously a full 2 seconds later it states your charcter is to attack and then proceeds to wave his arms. This tretches to anything, picking up or using items in your inventory, pressing any on0screen or keybord button, everything results in aminum of a 1 second lag.
I just wanted to know if this is normal and you vets have become used ot it, or if it's something from my end I need to sorrt out and give it another chance.

Go to the main forums. There is a post there which will tell you the ports you need to have open. The only time I have lag is in heavily populated areas such as RBB, especially during huge pvp.

Yes none of the things can attack you on the beach, its a complex game, it take a little bit of time to get used to, and you really shouldnt try to lie to get people to play your favorite game, and I know this is kind of a stupid question that everybody should know, but Im kind of knew to forums, but what is a troll? my answer is a forum spammer promoting their favorite game, but thats probably wrong. Well, after being called out and now recognized as the troll that he is, I am assuming ClintTX is no longer with us. At least under that name. Basically, a troll is someone who goes from forum to forum bashing games/players, sometimes to promote their idea of the best game or just to cause hate and discontent.
AO is an awesome game for it's age, AO is really good once you learn how to play it and get into all of it's systems (symbiots, implants, token boards, etc.)
It is not an easy game to get into which is nice, gets rid of the weaksauce/instant grat types quickly.
To the OP, I am also a L2 vet, while AO might be the ugliest thing in the world, and L2 possibly the prettiest, if you couldn't hang in AO, you won't be able to hang in L2 for very long.
Do people really hate the graphics? I feel like I'm the only one in the world that doesn't get affected by looks. I thought the AO world was beautiful =/

I played AO a few years back and having played other games since, I'm still impressed with AO's incredible skill system and really well-thought out design elements like CPUs, implants, nanos etc. Granted the graphics are dated but in terms of basic game-design AO is still one of the best games out there.
If you want to level a valid criticism against the game rather than some unintelligible rant after one hour of play, there are problems like needing to run third-party software for hours at a time while being logged into the game to find missions you need to acquire particular nanos (spells). That's just plain screwed up. In the time it would have taken me to eg. get the mez pet nano for my metaphysicist while afk with a search program running, if playing I'd have packed on enough levels to need the version of that nano 2 levels up.
Mob camping to get rare gear and the screwy situation with completely random mission allocation with a tiny, tiny, tiny (repeat "tiny" for a few more lines) chance of getting rewards you want - that's why I left. But other than those two problems, even with it's dated graphics I'd rate this game as one of the best on the market.

They could use updating, but I'm not going to complain if Funcom can't afford to update, or doesn't see a reason to update when they've got things like Age of Conan in the pipe and are giving regular AO for free anyway. There is a lot that is visually astounding in this game, though, at least enough to keep me entertained. The first time I saw a lvl 200/20 using buffs, was a big moment. Pretty colors...
If graphics are your big thing, AO is probably not going to ping all your dingers. If complexity is your thing, you may find AO has a good pitch to make you. BUT...
Rome is probably one of the coolest looking MMO cities in any game. The whole structure of Omni-Tek cities is very, very cool. Despite the fact that I'm not into politicking, it's one of the reasons I joined half my toons to Omni. Yeah, call me shallow. If miraculously Funcom one day said they were going to give AO a once-over with even newer textures and implement a new graphics engine, it would be insane how good the game would look.
But me, personally, I'm into the technical side - how to squeeze in more imps so I can get the buffs going and do well with my MA, so that I'm hitting a lot of damage and can get out of the dungeon ahead of schedule. Me, I like the dungeons and when I'm not slumming, I do missions. For me, la repetition is good, and I enjoy the framework that you can devise your own routine in.
As far as nub isle, I figured out how to get off that thing easily.

Yeah what ever troll - said before, beach leaches dont attack 1st - sry to burst your bubble, 2nd i would like to purchase a BO-18 from you since the game is'nt that complex.
P.S a BO-18 is a very noob item if you cant make this your on a lower lvl than noobs in game that can .

Anarchy was in devlopment back in 98 it was released in june of 01, back in 01 when you were still in dypers, Anarchy was the best MMORPG of its time it held that spot for a few years It was really good graphics back in 01. So you got to remember its not a new game so its not going to be up with all the new ones and the ones soon to come in graphics.
But the game play and what you can do and content is so much you can have endless fun and so on so many things to do and also anarchy is a really complex game its not a brain less hack and slash game like WoW is and other games like it.
It takes thinking and use of your brain to make your character good with implants armor what skills you pick armor you use what wepaon and nano skills you use and so on
so if its a brain less hack and slash game your looking for anarchy isn't going to be for you.

I havnt come here in a while, but seen Horrid written in AO just gets my blood to boil.

It would've been lower because of the obvious attempts to incite, but you really sucked alot of them in on this one so I thought it deserved a 5.

I enjoyed the game immensly, but I too was ofset at first at the (very begining). Didn't take long to learn it though.
