I'm looking at creating a new Sci-Fi based MMORPG. Currently I'm creating it in the Realm Crafter engine and I'm looking for volunteers to help with different aspects. Primarily I need molders and scripters. It would help greatly of you had experience with Realm Crafter or if you have another engine to work with.
Here is a basic synopsis to give you a taste and get you excited:
The game will begin with 4 playable species and they will be separated at first on 4 separate worlds. During the course of the game, the technologies will grow from relatively primitive to advanced enough to get spaceborne to visit the other worlds. Along the way, dark secrets will be revealed to flesh out a vivid and compelling storyline that you as a player will discover to steer the course of the game.
Please contact me if you are interested in the development... I could use the help: markniels@msn.com

There is not need story or models or scripting, before You consept of the game is designed. You say Sci-Fi, but what's the idea behind it? Is it like every MMORPG out there where players fight "blue" or "red" balls to get next levels.
What I'm trying to say, get the game idea and style first, what is worth of playing.
What players gonna do in You game?

I agree with Lil on this one, Cant really do much without a theme or Idea of how gameplay is going to work. I would suggest sitting down one night pull up Word, Notepad, pull up a google search window if need be, Just write down the general concept Such as this
PVP
- Well will there be PVP in your game? Arenas or Open Ground PVP?
PVE
- How will combat work, What skills will you need to survive medic, Health potions, Ship repairs.
Quest
- Will your Quest be transfered to you Via Comms or must you see the person before you get the next quest?
Mobs
- Will they have levels, Will they go by Color coding, will they go by skill level that you have to check.
Class/Race Choice
- Title Is a given Choose what class and what race you want to be(You've seem to have done that allready so no worries there), What skills and special powers will each class and race get if any, Charcter Creation detail.
Thats all I can think of off the top of my head but Stuff like that. Once you get that done and get producers hired they will know what to code and how to code it(hopefully). Hope it helps and good luck with your game!
Just adding that mmorpg doesn't have be around combat. There is other choises too, like construction, puzzles, exploration, social, crafting or/and business.
Example if sci-fi theme could be about "settlers" arrive to new planet and start building home for them self, the colony. So it would be more about building the enviroment, than fighting agaist creatures or players in ready made enviroment. Basicly single games like Settlers or Simcity, where the people in it, are the players. Later they could explore new areas in the planet(s) or space and found someting new. Even met hostile creatures, what could lead them to defending what they have build.
What ever is the choise of consept, it does need decissions what players gonna do inside the game.
elzilcho21 allready did give some choises about the game, but remember those choises are abouts games what we already have, the generic mmorpg. Try to break free from the generic ideas and invent someting new but interesting. Too many game developers are stuck the same choises what EverQuest 1 did lay down for them.

It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.

No Userbar here, sorry to disappoint.
Also ignore people who encourage you. They want you to fail ,deep down inside, you know this to be true. I don't want you to fail hence I'm asking you not to even start

Storyline is way more important than the graphics. You have to figure out an interesting storyline and gerne before you add the graphics. I also wouldn't recommand mmorpg.com forum to find a management team. This forum is good for tips and such. Anyway, do what you think is best to do. good luck!
