Looking at RV

ToxicAvengerToxicAvenger Member UncommonPosts: 36

Well for the past few hours ive done ntohing but read post on several forums, including the main and almost paid but I stopped myself. This game looks promising, graphics and technical errors dont bother me but.. from what i gather There currently are NO Spawning animals? So is it even possible to train your weapon skills with out creatures. Besides crafting and Role Play is there anything to do? I like how open ended this game sounds and can adjust to the style but I really want to get in and PVP. From what i read This game Will be awesome for pvp and take skill which is what im looking for. But im just not sure What ive read is out-dated info. What kind of patchs have recently been released and how often is there patches?

Sorry, this isn't WoW, you do not train your fighting skills be attacking level 50 creatures, you train by sparing with other players.

Patches can usually be seen about once a month but in reality it is when the Devs are finished with an update and ready to release it.

Generally there are patches once a month, sometimes more often. The devs are working very hard, in fact there are only five of them, so don’t be too hard on them because it’s slow.

As for animals, killing them trains you hunting skills, not your combat skills. There are in fact several trees of skills, Hunting, Combat, Fishing, Woodworking, Construction, Weapon Smithing, Armor Smithing, the list goes on, and each skill tree has more than just a few sub skills in it. It’s quite a large system

And, to top things off, today, October 31st the promised new lands are being loaded into the patcher. Even as I speak I am waiting for the new patch to be loaded. It includes 1,300 square kilometers to roam, at will. And I understand animals in plentiful numbers. (I think they said they fixed the bugs and they will spawn as well.)

But do the skills work.....that is the question :) A tree may not grow if it has no roots, as a skill tress is useless if there is no skills.

Not every skill is in the game yet, and not all of the skills in have a reason yet.

But what you do need is there and it is quite extensive even with out the full system in place yet.

there are many skills already in the game to keep everyone occupied as it is... Crafters have much to worry about getting there skills up to make some good quality items, and Warriors have there hands full gaining skills like spear and spear melee while training on other players... There is a skill tree and there are many skills areadly in it, there are just still some that many poeple are interested in like ballistics, But KFR posted that, that will be looked into next, so apperently its on the top of there list of thigns to do...

Wow Spear and spear melee, the possibilities are endless. If thats the only fighting skill promised for launch I apologize :)

No, its just that in the ancient world, spears are the most effective weapon.
Swords are less effective. but deadly non the less.

We have longswords, shortswords, swords, daggers, pugios, gladii, spears, pilae, buckers, longshields, towershields. and the list will grow some more.

I'm not sure about the effectivness. I always thought they were so poular because they were so easy and cheap to make compared to lets say a sword.

So theres skills for all those other weapons in the game right now ?

Yes compared to swords they are cheaper to make, but they have a longer reach.
And yes the other weapons have a skill governing them too. But forinstance gladius is a type of shortsword, so iirc it uses the swordsword skill.

Very, very, carfully. When training with sharp weapons there is always the chance of killing someone. However, tactics have been found to lessen then chance of bleeding to death. Also you can make a training bag (forget name) but I don't think tey raise your skills as fast.

Just like training in Real life would be, there is always possiblitys for accidents... training against your partner he would be wearing helm, shield, and a weapon, or a pitchfork cuase we have found that pitchforks are easyer to use cuase you dont have to worry about sharpening them , just let them break... But just like in Real life if you accidently cut someone while training, you try to bind there wound, so we use rags for that, not everyone right now is training like that casue making rags takes a bit of work, but once the community grows a bit more im sure that there will be a ton of rags to be used for these thigns.... My guild is already in the works for it image

there are many skills and sub skills for those weapons mentioned that are already in game,. the only things not in game right now are archery and stuff like that cuase they are not ready yet to implement how it will work...
