Even though this comment was not made to me. There is nothing wrong with wanting to own a console that produces games that you like.
Ahh... no... I'm just mentioning that these are the games I'm looking forward to playing. I've seen the Assassin's Creed demo and it's just too awesome not to play.

Ahh ok. Yea ive seen the trailer for it, looks cool. Ill have to snag it on the 360.

Its not that i am a microsoft fanboy but i wouldnt buy the ps3 for 2 reasons. Its really expensive and sony lies alot. but i do want it for Final fantasy.
P.S i have an X360 and Assains creed is awesome
PS3 IS THE BEST and nothing will beat it not just for its games but for its graphics and all the shit (good meaning of shit) it has in it ....

You have provided no real reasonining why PS3 is better, you talk about graphics when they are obviously inferior and "games" without justifying the games you are talking about.
PS3 = amazingness + better games
but
PC > PS3 > 360 > Wii
Wii is going to suck, i like the concept, but every game they make is going to focus you in on the fact that you move the controler (kinda the like DS was with its touch screen) rather than actually having content which is worth playing

The PS3 hardware wise is far superior to the XBox360. It has a better HD, more RAM, and a processor with the ability to become a super computer. It can probably comfortably run 4096 textures, and can probably fit them with its BlueRay discs. However, fully getting the power of the PS3 for a game studio requires a lot more programming work as of right now since the Cell Processor is a new thing, and needs alot of work and exploration done to pull out its full power.
With the XBox 360, they might as well have just shipped an HD-DVD drive and a PC compatible controller. With the architecture of the 360, there is no real difference between it and a PC game; with the exception that a PC can pump out more power.
Anyone that says the 360 is better has obviously only followed the claims by Microsoft, John Carmack, and everyone that regurgitates this info like it's the gospel...
Cell vs 360's Tri-Core
Read it if you have patience, the PS3 and 360 both have different advantages and disadvantages. The PS3 is harder to program for, but has the greatest potential if used right, the 360 has a disadvantage in memory bandwidth depending on how it's used (CPU sharing the memory bandwidth with the GPU instead of having a dedicated connection). While all the games now look as though they are equal to the 360, this will not always be the case.
The cold hard facts point to the fact that the 360 is more like a PC, and the PS3 is more like a PS2. The PS3 has the ability to outscale the 360 and I think we'll see that in the next year or two. Those companies that understand and programmed forthe PS2 (and there are a ton) will pick up on the PS3 much quicker than the "Carmack" type people who program in a different structure (x86, Instruction based). It's a difference of general purpose programming vs focused and controlled processes. The PS2 style developers won't just disappear overnight and they will most likely fall right into play on the Cell.

Both machines will have there strong points and weakpoints, as for which one is better then i dont think you can really say. At the end of the day it all comes down to the games that are on offer and so far the 360 looks to have some truely awesome games coming out for it and the are incredible. Iv not looked into the PS3s games to much so i cant say much about them, but FFXIII will no doubt be excellent.
Basically what im trying to say here is that it makes no difference who has a bigger TFLOP and what not, at the end of the day it all comes down to the games and the games that each users enjoys more, plain and simple.
The 360 is great and has an excellent line up for what i like. Ill more than likely get a PS3 and enjoy many of the games that are on that also.
I say we should all just wait and see, we havnt even seen anywhere near what the 360 can fully do yet either.

It's a tough choice, buy an xbox360 off the shelf for 300-400 $ (already has a wave of games out, another coming for christmas)
or pre order a ps3 for $5000 off some fishy ebay guy because coming out late means 'newer and better' (on its first wave of games)
I own a 360 and I have played PS3 and Wii.
360 is the worst of the 3 hands down.
PS3 has amazing graphics and in that respect is will always be amusing at least.
Sorry fanbois but the Wii was a lot more fun than the other 2 and both of the guys I workl with that played it with me agreed.........keep your PC's for the hardcore games and get the Wii for some chill fun.

Then again, I never have a computer that's more than 2yrs old and they're always nearly top end. So my rigs are about 10x more powerful than consoles typically.

have to agree with nomad whats with all the console threads? they should be in off topic.
and here is my suggestion: skip the console and go buy a new graphics card and gaming mouse for your PC with the money you saved
The 360 is more like a PPC Power Mac then a PC. Programming wise I guess this doesnt make that much difference and you are quite correct, the PS3 has more powerful hardware, but it more difficult to program for.
On a side note, personally I have to wonder why any developer with a choice would ever work with Microsoft. Microsoft is a classic vertical monopoly. Their whole history as a company has centered on partnering with developers, hooking them on their platform then using their control over that platform to kill the most successful products so they can take over their market. The people going Xbox exclusive should really be looking over their shoulder for Microsoft to tank over their market IMO.
