I've never noticed any effect when I have a Full Throttle or Red Bull as well. I just know caffeine and sugar are filling my veins and slowly killing me as I drink it.

This would depend on your body. Many people need lots of caffeine/sugar to function properly during the day.

If it doesn't have any effect on your body it's because your body probably doesn't have enough to satisfy the basic need for caffeine/sugar.

Until you fill the specific demand that your body needs, you won't feel any added effects such as more energy or higher alertness.

Myself, I drink Propel (similar to gatorade, powerade) prior to playing a hockey game and just half a bottle provides me with an added energy boost during the third period. It usually takes about 30 minutes before the vitamins/minerals/sugar in the drink are absorbed into my body and give me the extra energy.

Propel however is different compared to something like red bull, bawls, etc... Propel is a flavoured water with added vitamins and minerals. To my knowledge, red bull and the sort are mainly highly caffeinated drinks to keep you awake/alert.

Each persons body is different and have their own tolerances/requirements for certain vitamins, minerals, etc.

You would have to experiment a little with the drinks themselves to see how much you would need to drink before feeling any effect. I tried a red bull before and was the worst thing ever. I drank half of it before a hockey game and about 15 minutes into the game, all I could see was double's of everything. I little too much caffeine for myself.

I was thinking about the same exact thing the other day, no matter how many energy drinks i drink before i become sick of them i never get any sort of rush or anything.  But i guess im not the only one.

For me it depends on the brand...I remember taking red bulls when they first came out...nothing, nada, zip, zero zilch in the effect me catagory.  I thought they were a waste of money, and for me that was the correct assumption.  However, the first time I drank a RockStar, my hands were literally trembling and I felt the need to burn off excess energy.  As an athlete, I think I understand my body pretty well and I can understand when it does certain things...that incident tripped me out.  I don't get that effect anymore so I just drink that and AMP for the taste.

I do believe a lot of the energy is psychological...besides the caffenine and sugar for the instant energy...the mind thinks "This is supposed to give me energy" so you begin to feel more energetic.  The body follows what the mind see's.

Yep...energy drinks do NOTHING for me. I would try to drink one before my 4 hour history class and all it gave me was the urge to act like a tweaker. Shaking hands, restless legs. I didn't feel energetic, didn't feel more awake lol.

I didn't feel good at all.

Will someone explain to me why teenagers need energy drinks?  When I was a teen, if I wanted energy, I got drunk.  Though I never had a problem with energy anyway, who does at that age?  Our young generations are going to have diabeties problems out the ass.

As opposed to your generation running around getting drunk...lmao.  For teens, energy drinks > beer any day of the week and twice on sunday.

I would take diabeties over a shreaded liver...if those were where going overboard on either decision took me.

"Would you like a Red Bull this morning?"

"Nah, I am a little tired...how about a Newcastle...nothing gets me going like a smooth ale in the morning"

I hope, I SERIOUSLY HOPE, you're not suggesting that kids who drink energy drinks aren't out drinking and partying as much as I did, if not more.  I don't think people are replacing alcohol with energy drinks, I think they're just adding them to the mix.  Go to any bar and a energy drink + alcohol shot has become the norm.

When I go out to Coney Island; usually by the 8th cup of coffee I'm pretty tweaked.  No sugar, no cream.  I can't do energy drinks though; they all taste like bug guts or something else awful.

Hope you got your things together. Hope you are quite prepared to die. Looks like we're in for nasty weather. ... There's a bad moon on the rise.

You must not be a teenager.

Gtfo, and get some facts straight, just because beer is harder to get then energy drinks, doesn't mean they don't want it more.

    To your stupid quotes.

"Yeah, I'm gonna get so hyper on energy drinks"

Meh, they seem to work on me just fine. When I show up to work on 2 hours sleep and hungover, a couple Red Bull's tends to pick me up a bit. It doesnt last very long though, 30 minutes maybe~ If I drink about 4 of them at once, I tend to get a bit jumpy~ And people laugh T_T

For the record~ I'm a 5"11 male, 176lbs, age 21, and never been a coffee drinker except on rare, and very hungover occasions!

I'm friends with a guy who likes to drink a can of AMPED right before our writing class, he drinks it along with either a bag of chocolate covered raisins or a bag of sour patch kids...I'm pretty sure he's going to die from it soon.

Is there really a difference between these energy drinks and acid?  Both of them make you see little pink Christina Aguelera monsters.

Its more vivid with acid, with energy drinks you can just barely make em out.

I didnt know so many people didnt get affected by it, and that so many other did but with deifferent brands and everything, strange.

  • Totally agreed.

Rockstar and Monster are the only ones worth buying. Red Bull is worthless by itself, you might as well drink cold piss. People use Red Bull to make mixed drinks because its the only way youre gonna get a fraction of what you paid for out of it, and even then its the alcohol doing 90% of the work.

After reading all this I've yet to see why this is "important".  And FYI don't be suprised if energy drinks require an age restriction in the not-to-distant future.
