Posted by mahmood on December 8, 2006 Valve's Doug Lombardi has gone on the record about in-game advertising in Counter-Strike 1.6, and in-game ads will be coming to a CS server near you early next year.
In an interview with
CS-Nation, Lombardi says that Valve and Engage In-Game Advertising (IGA) have resolved their dispute over ads on CS servers and plan to roll out the service together. This is a followup to a story from earlier this year, when IGA planned an ad campaign on CS servers for Subway, only to have it quashed by Valve. Read about that
here.Valve promises that the ads will be tasteful and appropriate for the maps they're put in, but they will not be optional. This raises the issue of server admins paying for bandwidth to run their servers, but receiving nothing in return from the ads displayed. That money, of course, goes to Valve.

as long as theyre not overly obtrusive I dont have much a problem with
it... is this just for 1.6 or CSS as well?
