I've spent a long time away from wow, enough time to reconsider playing
it, especially with the expansion and changes to pvp coming along. The
main thing that turned me off however was how item based the game was.
The pvp videos of players we want to emulate show someone a warrior
with HWL weapons and choice BWL dps pieces destroying two warriors at
the same time who have less than full valor, an icebarbed spear, and
that ubrs spear from rend.
When I played the rerolling game and made a new character with every
new server I could get top of the kills list and no deaths because I
had rushed with a group of friends to collect blues so I could decimate
players in greens.
Now I never got to much into the raiding scene because I've had a hard
time finding guilds I actualy wanted to stick to an acomplish things
with rather than getting items from, so I have to ask.
How bad is the itemization with cross realm bg's? I remember reading
that the majority of players never completed MC much less entered BWL,
but what kind of players are running around in BG's? It probably varies
alot from older to newer server clusters.

teamwork > gear

With the new honor system, it dosen't take long to get high warlord weps and armor, and its way easier for casual players
double post
At 60, basicly 2 types of groups, pick up groups and premade groups. Premades are in 99% times guild groups with t2+ epix and massive raid expirience, so it's cooperation+healing+defence
Pickup group can win, but
1 premade has to suck very bad and it has to be their first BG match
2 PUG has to work together and defend and heal and...
Oh, and every second BG is a premade... so, it's kinda sucky...
Teamwork + good gear > teamwork+bad gear
all melee classes are based on how good ur gear is but casters are not..
iv got friend warlocks who kill fully geared warriors when they wear no gear at all
something like 60% gear, 20% luck, 20% skill, in my opinion.
Melee classes suffer the worst in this aspect. A well played rogue in good purple with decimate the opponants but a blue geared rogue, even played well can do sweet F-A.
Casters suffer from this to a less degree, but its all about Gear > Skill.
X-realm battlegrounds have made it considerably worse now HWL items can be bought, everyone is running around with rank14 weapons.
gear is and will always be a factor however I have to completly disagree with your comment that a well geared rogue can do well where a non geared rogue cant do anything. Rogues have non gear related abilties such as eviserate, regardless of your gear you get combo points and can do nice eviserates. If your gear is really bad as a rogue you can do a setup spec which will give you tons more combo points for dodging ect or go seal fate to get lots of combo points and do your big eviserates regardless of gear.
There are plently videos of naked rogues melting faces so there really is nothing to complain about for rogue
Agreed;
The whole idea with the new pvp system and the xpac is to give a more balanced loot table puting pvp gear close to on par with the raiding gear, the new system also suits casual play very well since you have yuor own running totals of honor and honor tokens which never detereorate so if you take a week or 2 away from game you can pick up where you left off instead of droppping a few ranks from not playing.
Skill and teamwork should be the big deciding factors in pvp battles to come
