I'm kind of tired of all the grinding and raising levels all the time and all the competition when you get to the higher levels, I just kind of want a fun and relaxed style MMO that has good customization and stuff for now. Are there any out there like this??

I think there is a trial of the game at www.eve-online.com/ and theres also lots of game info.

Myst URU Live is going to be like another Huge Chat Room but it will still kick @$$ Because of all of the cool things that you can already do in Myst.
You can build your own house
Create your own Avatar/Character
Explore Mind challenging Quests with Friends And so on
I Know ill be buying this when it comes out, but remember this has very little/no fighting in it because its a mind game not a grind game xD, other then that try Eve or try maybe as mentioned above puzzle pirates :P
Yeah EVE is good and I have been playing it as casual as it gets for 3 years, but I would really like suggestions to alternatives. Or has most of the MMO world stagnated around the same poor concepts?
EDIT: I see Puzzle Pirates mention which I already have tried and quite odd, found not so bad.
But in terms of casual/relaxed, i think Myst online fits the bill, no grind afaik?
EVE online?!!!!
Are you guys on crack or something?!?!
Only MMO where you can actually be player killed and lose all what you worked for in months time ! Thats almost relaxing as participating in street gunfights in Iraq !
Anyway - Real relaxing MMOs come as listed
EQ2
City of Heroes / Villans
Or even grab Guildwars - which is by far most relax , take it easy MMO because
1. No sub. So you dont care if you play or not , or how much
2. Levels does not mean a lot in this game. As level 10 you dont have much less edge on someone of lvl 20

I don't want to play the game casually, I want to play it a lot I just mean in terms of it being less competitive and about winning all the time.
Also Myst seems alright, but I really don't like puzzle games or adventure games.

Actally one could say Eve is a relaxing game as it doesn't require you to be activly in game to progress as fast as those that play constantly, and you really only 'lose' the ship which is easy to replace if you both properly insure and update your clone, yes it's more meaningful then things like WoW's 'death' but it's not as bad as you make out, i'm kinda guessing you've stuck about in 1.0-0.8 space alone and had a 'few' bad experences when you played.
Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!
city of heroes when i played it was totally relaxing.Gain at your own pace.No gear to worry about.

There is just one game
That game is
Dungeons & Dragons Online
Oh puhleeze
EVE is the only true death penalty game out there! That can be quite stresfull. If you lose expensive ship you work your ass of to earn ISK for.
Sure you can play it safe. And never lose that much.
But than why are you playing at all?
I think OP should really check COH/COV

Most games allow for a relaxed playstyle. The trick is that its up to you to play that way.
Every game has goals for you to work towards. If you are putting the pressure on yourself to reach those goals quickly there is nothing the game can do to help you. Even if you play a game like WoW that does have guild imposed pressure on you to keep up with the rest of the raid force you can simply choose not to explore that part of the game, at least until you run out of other things to do.
Basically what Im saying is that a relaxed style comes from your attitude much more then it comes from the game you choose to play.
A Tale in the Desert is a little too involved to be a relaxing game, unless you simply log in and spin around on the spot. It has far too much depth for relaxation in its traditional meaning.
The most relaxing time I had in any game was collecting resources in Horizons and then crafting with them. Not everyone''s cup of tea of course, but that was my experience.
I know when I played SWG sometimes I would log in and just chat and sit around, RP. Other times I'd log in and a couple guildies and I would grind mobs for hours. Which isn't so bad when you have people to discuss politics, religion, world views, movies, tv, music, RP with or discuss whatever you want. But also SWG didn't really have quests. It had missions which I think are more boring and stupid than any quest in WoW.
relaxed style?!

I would say Guild Wars or City of Heroes/Villains is more relaxed MMOG.
Certainately the no subscription fee of GW makes it ideal for a casual player. Plus each "expansion" is actually a stand alone game so you wouldn't need one to play another. Just pick which theme you like the best and get that one. There are trials (I think) for all 3 GW games.
City of Heroes/Villains has a subscription fee but it's one fee covers both. Again like GW, each game is stand alone so you don't need Heroes to play Villains and vice versa. Great customization on characters and a pretty good tutorial. Most archtypes (classes) can solo, so you don't need a group like in many other games to progress. Also you can adjust mission (quest) difficulty for harder missions for greater rewards.
If you have 5M skill points and only have a 3M skill point clone, that's not smart.
If you only have 110M ISK, spend it on a 100M battleship, and buy the cheap insurance that only covers 1/2 the ship's value, that's not smart.
Do both of those things and get podded, well, just consider it a lesson in Darwinism.
While it's generally not a good idea to make analogies between MMORPGs and real-life, it's actually a good idea in this case. Don't buy what you can't afford to lose.
battlegroundeurope, or wwiionline (old name)
No worries about leveling really, yeah sure, you need to gain few ranks to get the better stuff, but its no big deal.
No need to worry about xp and levels or penalties.
Tons of fun, sure its a ww2 simulator and you need patience for a lot of things, but its fun and relaxing.
I think the whole point that you can be podded is what is holding EVE back a little. Many (not all) american gamers do not like pvp that is that umm hardcore? I guess that's the best word to describe it. I know there are some that enjoy this PK style, but to many they wouldn't like a weeks worth of playtime ruined by some 9 yr old with social issues who wanted to "pwn" you for the sake of "pwnage".
I think if they changed pvp to draw more customers that would upset their current playerbase. Not wise to do that at all (Like SOE did with EQ1). What they could do is make another server with more "relaxed" pvp and see if that one draws more subscriptions in. By relaxed I would mean no podding at least.
