I used to be a fan of Roma Victor before it came out. I did not pre-order since I had no Idea how it would turn out, and because many people have advised against it. Now that I see that many are against it for many reasons, I have a few question for people who are CURRENTLY playing the game.
Are you having fun?
Are you satisfied with the game as is right now?
What is it that makes you play this game?
Thanks for all your feedback.
Please no ranting about how bad the game is...

Yes, I am playing the game and enjoy it.
I don't think anyone is satisfied with the game, especially when comparing it with the polish of huge games like WoW. Eventually, when the game is more complete, I expect it to be more of a game like EVE, except in a medieval environment instead of spaceage. If I was into space games I would be playing EVE. The reason most are not satisfied is because there are many things we are looking forward to like mounts, ballistics, more skills, more systems and containers and also the game is still very buggy; it is very picky about drivers and crashes unless you have the very latest ones installed, I am guessing it's because they develop the game solely around the latest releases of Direct X. You also usually need to have at least 1 GB of RAM, a processor over 2.0 Ghz and at least a 256MB graphics card.
But, at least there is no monthly fee to have to pay while the developers work out the issues. Hopefully they will eventually get the game running smoothly enough that players want to contribute to the game. I think pretty much all the game's troubles are due to the small development team and small budget resulting in the team not being able to add content, fix bugs and develop the game as quickly as most players are used to.
Yet, Roma Victor is the only game I am interested in playing long term, because the main vision appears to be creating an alternate reality, not just another MMO game. The crafting is very difficult, historically accurate and complex - requiring the actual tools and resources that were used in ancient history. The PvP also strives to be the same, with twitch based fighting, your attacks are dependant upon how you move your mouse and you need to actually aim at different body parts to hit them, and each body part does different types of damage. For example, if you get hit in the head then your Sense goes down.
Basically the concept and design are outstanding, but the company is limited in programming capacity and capital.
However, until something better comes along, I will be behind the project and playing it.
I'm done with mass-market MMOGs like WoW, EQ and Linage - they just don't offer me anything worthwhile that I want to participate in for the long-term. By long-term I mean for the next few years at least. All the mass-market MMOGs are designed to give everything away to everyone, in order to make a quick buck rather than focusing purely on the gameplay.
Are you satisfied with the game as is right now?
Heck no. There was so many broken promises, ignorant devs (the pell is working comes to mind). I could go on, but I'll say I'm not satisfy with this game as is right now.
What is it that makes you play this game?
I thought it was the combat and the sandbox. It was fun while it lasted, but all the errors, bugs, and mistakes, and ignorants of mistake just went over and ontop. But combat has always been like it was since gamma, or so the older people said, even htough we've asked for some more innovative change.
Well technically the game is released now so he's not really responsible for bug hunting anymore.
Are you having fun?
No, not too much. I log in from time to time, but there is not much for me to do. I want to hunt animals, map the wilderness, scout long distances with bow in hand, and start a wild religion. Unfortunately, animals are not really in, ballistics are not in, religion is not fully implemented, and walking any distance more than a board or two brings on catastrophic graphics failures (which require a complete restart, which takes 15-20 minutes on my computer).
Are you satisfied with the game as is right now?
No, of course not. There is so much to do just to get to a 'content complete' phase. Then there is all the debugging of that content.
What is it that makes you play this game?
I love the historical aspect, and the open play sandbox setting. I don't like story-arc driven play. There are some very good ideas, they just need some developing. The community used to be good, for me, but the people I liked have all left apparently. There is no fee, and I can come back anytime or take a break. To me, this game is really still in beta, alpha maybe, but had to be "released" to bring in some income. That's fine. If there was a monthly fee, I obviously would have canceled, but as it is, I feel like I have gotten my money's worth. So I tool around a little, map some boards, then file bug reports and work with the devs a little. I'm just hoping it will turn the corner one day, so I help out when I can.

um, are you not a tester? should you perhaps be trying to HELP FIX all these problems. me and Virtus are all alone here.

Tideas was chosen to be in a Volunteer live server test team and excepted this position. Since I have been testing I have only seen a single email from him but no posts discussing things that are currently being tested. Numerous serveys have been posted by Jooky (Client dev in charge of us) and tideas has only responded to one.
Tideas, you say the game is not properly tested yet you have the chance to test it and make it better for everyone and you do nothing, I think alot of people would love to have your position.
