Either this or Age of Conan will take the lead over WoW. I'm expecting a lot from either of those 2... And I just can't wait to see Blizzard lose its place on the throne of mmorpg gaming.

The only thing I wasn't keen on was the 'higher level players won't be able to gank lowbies in lowby pvp zones'. To me, one of the major benefits of being a higher level player is the ability to absolutely annihilate lower level players. Otherwise, what's all the effort for? There's no fun in fighting people of the same level.. Even as a low level character, I'd much rather take on somebody higher level than I, simply because it'd be so rewarding to actually win the fight.
Other than that, though, it does sound absolutely awesome. Can't wait.
go kill some ants then bro.

Thanks for the infoz !! The only thing that I'm worried about is the fact that this world seem to rely heavily on zones/instances. Can't bear these no more

Getting more excited about this. DAOC was the best MMO I ever played imho (I may be considered a Mythic fangrrl? as opposed to fanboi?) I believe all a good mmo needs is good core pvp for the players to keep playing- not endless additions of raids and dungeons that create second, third, and fourth class players in a game *coughs*.
I think I may actually shed a tear if it's not as good as they are saying. (Like finding out the super cool toy you wanted desperatly for xmas is actually a piece of crap) All my hope is based on the fact Mythic is the only developer I currently trust to make an MMO the way I like it.
Currently playing: Eve, DAOC, Warhammer Games I've beaten: AC, AO, CoH, DAOC, D&D, EQ, EQ2, FFXI, FlyFF, GW, Horizons, L2, Ryzom, Shadowbane, SpaceCowboy, SWG, UO, WoW Stay away from: Eudemons Online, DNL, and Roma Victor
It was stated that they were not going with a certian god because players would be running around naked and have piercing's. That they did not find it to be acceptable for kids to be doing in a video game. So...One would have to assume the ESRB rating is going to be "Teen" at least.
Anyway...I'm an adult and I would also like to run around naked and have piercings. Sounds Sexy to me...lol.
Man...this game has got me all in a tizzy! I really want to play this game. I really hope it wins ALL the player base from WoW and Blizzard has to file bankrupcy. THIS is what a good part of those 7million subscribers that bought WoW actually belived they were getting into when they bought WoW...An Innovative MMO.
OMG listening to they one guy talk in the one video that was released on Dec 13...god that guy alone could do the commericals and seel the game to everyone in the world. He's got some spirit I tell ya!
So...when is the release date for the game again? I might have to cut myself if it don't come out soon. lol
Imho I think that making decisions on what children will or will not do in an mmo is not a good idea as you may end up alienating the fans of the lore of Warhammer I've found that giving players the choice has always made for a better game. My question is will Warhammer use the same Team Lead program as DAoC or will decisions about what is overpowered ect. be made by some type of oversight committee?
The fact that EA seems to be allowing all creative and programming leeway to the Mythic team bodes well for the gameplay itself. With EA's marketing muscle there might be a huge subscriber base, which I think is truly necessary for the full impact and enjoyment of what it sounds like they are trying to do with RvR.
My question is concerning the hardcore vs. the casual aspect that seems to be a problem with MMORPGs.
How else is WAR gonna be more balance for someone like me - A guy that works 40-60 hours a week with a wife and and 3 month old son and is a gamer. It is a problem trying to 'keep up' with hardcore gamers that seem to have no jobs/school. And I speak from experience, it can get frustrating for someone trying to enjoy the game.
Another question is - Cost. What is the monthly fee? And the cost of the initial release?
And finally - is WAR gonna be a true MMORPG? Or is it gonna be instanced hell?
Instances sparingly is fine, but when it's something like Guild Wars - it really takes out the Massive and Multiplayer aspect of online games which I think is the initial attraction to them.
Thank you for a good article, keep 'em coming.

I got to play WAR last year at comicon and it was pretty sweet. Since it was in very early phase i didnt really get to experience a feel for the game. Only thing that bugged me was the camera controls but im sure they have fixed that by now
I've been following this game for a while and it just keeps looking better. Can't wait to try it out. Hopefully they come out with the elves soon so I can decide who to play (not that I want to play elves ).
I have read and watched every interview/article I can find on this upcoming awesomeness and plainly can't wait for the release!
Every time I start up WoW, I log in and then quit about 10 seconds later because it just doesn't compare to what this is predicted to be. With somone like Paul Barnett as the Producer, i think the game is set.
The questions I have are:
Do you think this game will actually take players from WoW? I was talking to a guildie yesterday and I asked them why they liked WoW so much. They said "because its easy. That's why most people like it". Will this game be easy enough to attrract newer gamers but also deep enough to keep more experienced gamers logged in?
So far it looks amazing and I'm sure it's going to have a huge impact on the gaming world.

Cop,
the release date is scheduled for Q4 2007. Of course as we have seen with tons of MMOs that is subject to change at any time.
I will say this, EA Mythic is doing a great job in development and seem to be ahead of the game as far as scheduling goes.
We'll have lots more on Warhammer next month.
Chat Soon,
