WoW's never actually had a release date--at least, not an official one. Everything out there has been estimates by website runners, gaming outlets, online mags, etc.
I am surprised that Blizzard would wait until Fall to release the game. Only from the standpoint that so many of their subscribers are going to be 21 and under. During the summer: no school for the K-12 (for the most part), and most college people are home from campus with more time to play.
Seems like unfortunate timing. But, knowing Blizzard, they hate releasing premature games, so it makes sense in that regard.

I agree with the 1st and last part completely, as for the age thing though it's quite debatable. On mmorpg's in all the guilds I've been in, very few players are under 18, or in high school. Most are usualy around college age, and those vacations vary drasticaly. Granted summer is the most common time schools give off, it still doesn't always mean more play time in those cases. Lots of vacations etc take place. What matters isn't play time though, what matters is SELL time. So x-mas is the best bet for that, also like mentioned in another post, the release of other competing titles is another issue. I don't think the school calender is really on their mind though.
PS. I know you said 21 and under, I'm just stating a seperate fact I've noticed from experience.

Well that will be a real bummer if the release date is pushed back. But if Blizzard feels that the game isn't ready for retail, I admire the fact that they won't release it (as disappointing it will be). IMO, it shows that they are more concerned in making the sure game IS ready and customer satifaction. Unlike others who didn't care, released prematurely just to get that profit rolling in (e.g. SWG).

True....must have misunderstood something somewhere between the date listed on the MMORPG's game list and what the orginal poster stated....my bad
its definetly good for the game if Blizzard waits untill its ready instead of pushing an incomplete/buggy product. this is especially true of MMORPG's in my opinion
::shuders at the memories of launch-day catastrophies in other MMO's::
Blizzard has a track record of long developement times (and release dates getting pushed back time and again) but the games that they eventually do put out have spoken for themselves. i have yet to see a bad Blizzard game i hated and i dont think they'll let me down with this one either.
hopefully anyway
